My wife lost her purse yesterday and her EAD card and ID card were in it. She has her GC and SS card in the house. Do we have to get a new EAD card? Thanks in advance

newblack,

the Green Card overrides the EAD/AP card. The EAD is totally useless in her case since she's a permanent resident..don't worry about it,she doesn't need anything else.

No, she doesn't need to apply for an EAD if she already has a green card because EAD has no meaning once you get a green card. However, you might want to report to USCIS (or DHS, idk) about the stolen card just to avoid any potential misuse by anyone. Same goes with all the other identity cards. Report them and get the new cards (like DL, credit cards or whatever)

Anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

File a police report. Send the police report to USCIS. Just in case anyone picks up the purse and the EAD or other ID end up in the hands of someone doing something stupid/illegal you have it reported and don't have to explain as much down the road.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Ditto to everyone else, especially on filing a police report and advising USCIS (maybe they can flag it in case someone tries to use it?0
