Your opinion might be further respected if you posted a timeline and gave some indication of which visa process you're working through or have dealt with.

Thank you TBone. Another man that took hold of the knobs and changed something and continues to help others avoid the same issues.

You know, there are a lot of people that think ANY foreign fiancee or spouse is simply a goldigger looking for a green card and would just LOVE to terminate this whole process.

It seems a bit assinine for a memebr with a foreign spouse to cast stones upon another member with a foreign spouse (or fiancee) for some detail of the process. Does anyone really care which consulate someone interviews at?

as for changing things, I have been working with our good Senator Patrick Leahy, on whom I disagree with on EVERYTHING, except that we should not have to go to a Civil Surgeon to sign off on vaccination records and be held down and "plucked" (to put it gently) in order to adjust status. The best thign about our government is we CAN change things. My wife, a green card holder/soon to be citizen has been working on this with him also.

There is nothing wrong with petitioning for change! It is uniquely American.

Remember that you are ALL doing something a lot of ignorant people do not approve of.

I may be necroposting a little but here's an update on our situation:

we (fiancee and me) went to Nairobi and visa was approved.

It wasn't easy, there were bumps in the road at almost every step. I think that the fact that we're both foreigners in this country made it difficult because it was harder to get around and do basic things like printing documents, getting money, etc. The worst part is how much this is all costing. we're looking at a figure over $6000. most people definitely can't afford that. but at least we're together, although we'll still be petitioning for change in the future.

our actual timeline.

<-- not that one.
