Money required to travel?

My husband has been told by a few people that he needs to have a certain amount of money to travel to the US I have not heard this anywhere and told him I would post this here just to make sure there is no required amount of money he needs to travel with. We are both broke (grrr) with the HIGH amount we had to pay on airfare and I will be meeting him at the airport so he doesn't need carfare. Please can anyone tell me is there a shred of truth to this?

If he shows up with no money, he may get turned away at the border

That is classic scammer talk, they have made up a BTA ( basic travel allowance ) and it has repeated so often that it is almost acccepted as fact. Joseph came with less than $50 just to cover snacks on the way. So if you hear a number above that you are hearing lies.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thank you kunleseun, I thought as much but wanted to put his mind at ease. Yes he has the tickets and yes I am picking him up (the reason no money is I need it for gas and tolls) I heard the rumor mill about the misinformation regarding money for traveling but of cousre he just don't want to run into any problems so is crossing his t's and dotting his i's. Thanks again!

Thanks Nigerianbust, I have heard about the BTA thing and tried to assure him that indeed this is backlash from this lie but of course he wants to be sure so I told him I'd ask. Thanks so much!

Only princes who cannot access their accounts, various forms of stranded travellers, those who have come into recent huge inheritances, and other sundry individuals whose emails saturate the internet need "certain minimum funds to travel" to the US before they share a portion of their billions.

Real (legitimate) travellers do not. There is no minimum amount of money, but there IS a maximum amount before it has to be declared ($10000? dunno, never carried that much)

Safe trip!
