Hi Darren. I understand what you are trying to say here. You seem to me to be very caring and supportive of your wife. You have your own personal family issues that many have but are not as honest about. Others try to project there own reality on you but it does not fit. Have a good holiday season with your wife and enjoy your time together. In life we will not please many people, just ask Jesus. God bless you!

So why are you taking your wife into the wolves den on a important date as Christmas, when the masses there will be against her. This is evil.

Excellent question!

Darren -

"Why subject your new bride to this on Christmas ~"

Stay home and have your first Christmas together in a happy home.

Send them a Christmas card with a picture of you both if you need to validate with them.

As my brother-in-law sez!

You can pick your nose

You can pick your butt

But you can not pick your family!

apparently, that is not the situation. he is going to a cousin's house with whom he is on better terms than his immediate family. i guess he feels he is in an akward situation, if he tells cousin he's married before telling his parents and immediate family.

Darren,,, never one to disappoint.

The old adage measure twice and cut once might apply here. If you are always having to explain yourself, you might

want to think twice before speaking or in this case making a statement.

I think we all wish you two the best...

Regards and God Bless.

Darren, I would make a formal announcement to the whole family before meeting with your cousin or simply don't go over there on Christmas. That's only fair to your wife. Certainly, most everyone in your family has email and if not, the message can be relayed, but that way you can explain yourself.

agreed

She is your wife. I agree with what Mr Fancypants said. Announce before hand, you cannot subject her to a possible really bad first reaction by your family.....

ALSO quit pussyfooting around your parents! You told Gretchen a while ago that her parents can basically butt out and that you control her now, remember?

Stop the double standards.

My heart goes out to Gretchen.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Darren, this will be Gretchen's first Christmas in the USA, your first together as a family. make it a memorable one, not one she wish she could forget.

Dude, you are 45 years old - you need to grow a set and be forthcoming about this with your family. She faced the music how long ago and told her parents that she was going to marry a man almost twice her age and go live in some foreign country with him. He just so happens to be divorced and has children - what a catch! This chick is now your wife, who is knocked-up with your kid. If you don't have the cojones to be a man and face your family with this news, your wife has every right to drop your azz like a hot potato from shame. You don't man-up now, she might not be dropping trou' until frickin' Easter or beyond.

This post is best post.

My ex caused problems during the divorce. The last time I EVER saw my parents I WAS kicking them out of my house. And as far as I knew, I BELIEVED anything I told my parents went to my ex. My goal was PROTECTING Gretchen. What my parents know now is EXACTLY what I want them to know and nothing more then I would TELL my ex. It is not cahones. It is a matter of trust. the old phrase is "hubba hubba hubba, who do you trust??"

the deal is the family just is not near me. They have their own lives. I live very far away. What is funny, my children talked to my parents and never mentioned her either.
