well, ya gotta start somewhere, I think so.

Being so geographically challenged, is easier to keep quiet till 0 day.

Let us know how it goes, aye?

If'n there's any film, hey - post it to youtube when ya get a chance.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Congratulations! Nice wedding - small and simple. I'd wait until you two are really comfortable together, then introduce her only after your folks have time to adjust. My family is complicated but not as much as yours.

Does your cousin know that you're married?

I tried to reach them to invite them to the wedding, but never got a call back in time. I have been trying to get my cousin and Gretchen together since we got back. I only referred to Gretchen as a "friend" because of my immediate family not knowing. (trust me, even though the distance is short, the grapevine works extremely well) My mom was calling me within HOURS of me talking to my cousin. 3 hours to be exact. It was not intentional, nor was it to hurt Gretchen. It is just to start breaking the news to my family. in deep south parlance, This is the banker's daughter bringing home the wrong guy for dinner.

WOW...you actually told your cousin Carol that you will bring along a FRIEND who's name is Gretchen which is your wife???? - You just referred her to your cousin as a friend...If it is my husband saying that, I would be terribly hurt. - Thanks goodness my husband always had never refered me as a friend even those time we were engaged he referred me as his fiancee. - anyways, just saying and I guess whatever your reason is, you know what works best for you both :D - Merry Christmas!

understand fully. I talked with Gretchen long about it. Gretchen understands we are breaking the news t my family now, and we are walking a tightrope hoping the family embraces her. the important thing is my children know, and accept it. My children accepting her as part of the family was most important to me. Now that we are done with my children and the marriage. We can see what troubles I now have with my fmaily.

My close friends here in Phoenix knew, plus those on facebook as well as here on Visa Journey. My parents and siblings never use facebook. I have had video posted on youtube since Feb 2011. It was not hidden, just not talked about. I just never brought up the subject with my parents and siblings. (they are 2000 miles away after all.) To be honest, if they did not like her, I did not want them hurting Gretchen and my relationship. I also did not want my fmaily stopping Gretchen from being here. Even now at AOS, it is tenuous at best. But now Gretchen and I are married.

My cousin invited me over for dinner on Christmas day. I was not prepared for the get together on THAT day. Breaking the news is not easy on me to my family. During my divorce, my parents were more on my ex's side then my side. It is sad when you end up going through h-e-double-hockey-sticks alone. I did not tell my parents for fear of what my get to my ex through my parents. I did not want my ex causing issues or my ex "feeling" self righteous because my parents did not like my new fiancee. I also did not want to tell my cousin BEFORE telling my parents. If I thought it was going to be bad, telling someone else in the family BEFORE telling my parents would make it worse.

Yes, I thought of the "friend, oh this is my wife" on Sunday thing. But I also knew just saying I was "bringing" a friend who is a girl would set off alarms in the fmaily. Starting the process of telling the family this week.

Sunday is the best people to start meeting the fmaily. My family will be sad they were not invited to the wedding, and I kept it from them. I AM expecting that lecture. I can tell you I can expect anything from "ok, well your life" to my parents showing up at my door to meet her. I am hoping by breaking the news now, we can plan a trip sometime soon to see my parents plus brother and sister if they are open to it.

Please note, I am note just springing a new wife but a young wife, from a different country. Plus oh by the way, we are going to have a child in July.

No, I will never take off my wedding ring. I love my asawa forever. I promised her that.

Gretchen has read what I told my parents. I was open and honest about things. Plus I offered to by my parents round trip tickets to the Philippines plus pay for hotel so they could join in celebrating the marriage Filipino style.
