Hello everybody, thanks in advance for your help.. My situation is this..

I am a US service member stationed in Germany, my fiancee is from the Philippines. Well I was told that it is possible to get her here with the Shengen Visa for 90 days.. If approved and after she gets here, can we legally go to Demark and marry there.

Once marriage I start the SOFA Stamp process..

The main question is if she here on a Shengen Visa can I process the SOFA Stamp with her still in the country and that Shengen (tourist) Visa in her passport.

Proposed Timeline

1. Shengen Visa to Germany

2. Marriage in Denmark

3. Process paperwork for SOFA

4. Command Sponsership paperwork

5. Process US Visa/Green Card

Thank you in advance

Chad

Hi Chad

I am not familiar with SOFA process but I can confirm that you two can get married in Denmark.

According to the Danish citizen service website, to legally get married in Denmark, foreign citizens must be able to provide his/her passport and proof of legal residence in the form of work- and residence permit, EU-residence permit, Visa or entry stamps on passport.

It would also be a good idea to bring a civil status proof that shows you are legally able to marry or previous divorce certificate if you have previously married.

Another note, if you decide to get married in Denmark, you will get a marriage certificate issued by the Danish authority.

In order to use that marriage certificate outside Denmark, you must have it legalized by the Danish foreign ministry. It's a quick process and it costs about 30$ (180kr) per document.
