i am getting so many different answers about how long it takes. he is from canada.

what is a good estimate?

and any pointers?

i just want him to be with me again so sooooooonnnn.

nobody understand how bad it sucks, so im hoping someone on here understands. :)

miles away i can still feel you lay your head down on my embrace

Here is a quick overview of the K-1 (fiance) Visa: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

Here are a couple of K-1 guides here on VJ for you to look at: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/327503-k1-guide-montreal/

If he's from Western Canada he would go for his interview in Vancouver and Eastern Canada he would go through Montreal.

This should give you an idea of the time, expense and paperwork required for you to sponsor him.

from sending in the I-129F to having the K-1 visa in hand (assuming everything goes ok)... 6-9 month maybe.

plan ahead and read through the guides and forums on here and ask as many questions as you want, no matter how silly they might seem. then when you have done that... read through it all again just to make sure.

practice patience and ignore others that seem to move through the process quicker than you... it doesnt seem to work on a first come first served basis.

pretty much everyone on here understands how you feel so if you wanna whine about it or just vent... theres always someone willing to listen... just not me

good luck :)

A K-1 does not stay at the NVC for a month. At most 2 weeks. Ours was there for only 4 days if that. K-1s are only entered into the computer and then sent to the embassy nothing else happens at the NVC stage for them.

If they are interviewing at Montreal it may be way more than 6 weeks for interview because of how their scheduling works but if they get lucky it may only be a few weeks till interview.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

i feel so stupid asking, but so are you saying that it should just be 6 months?

and he lives in calgary, would he have to travel to montreal? or could he go to vancouver? or saskatoon?

and what is the length between the noa1 and noa2?

miles away i can still feel you lay your head down on my embrace

NOA1 - NOA2 will be about 5 month. for some it might be 2 month and for others it might be 7-8 month.... but 5 month is really what you should be expecting.right now i am almost at 4 month.

You can visit each other during the process. Make sure he brings ties to Canada if he is going to visit again in case they ask for them.

No it wont cancel the visa, it doesn't do anything to the visa at all.

Have you looked at the requirements for the I-134 and I-864 Affidavits of Support yet? As the US citizen petitioner, you will need to be able to show an annual income of $17000-$18000 per year, or find a cosponsor who can show sufficient income and is willing to sponsor your fiance.

For us, the cosponsor was my mother-in-law, since my wife wasn't working when she filed the I-128F petition.

The cosponsor is going to need to provide 3 years of tax returns, and some fairly personal information about their bank balances. It's fairly invasive, so even though you won't need this stuff until the consulate interview, if you know you'll need a cosponsor, you should start diplomatically feeling out family or friends now.

Good luck!

The other main things you can gather right away are pictures, plane tickets, motel receipts, and other documentary proof of this most recent visit. You will need to include proof that you two have visited within the last two years with your I-129F, and any other evidence of your relationship (within reason) you include with the I-129F won't hurt either.
