Our K1 visa arrived today at the Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. My fiance will be picking up the #3 packet this week. I am asking do you really need to have a letter from the bank if my income is well above the poverty level and I have a letter from by employer, pay stubs and tax paperwork to prove it. I will be traveling to Costa Rica after the holidays to attend the interview and hopefully bring my fiance back to the US. This has been a great Christmas gift......

You do not have to even know what a bank IS to get a K-1 approved. You need to prove sufficient income or assets. Check stubs are fine, employment letter is fine, last years tax return, copies of bank statements or a bank letter...any or ALL are fine.

It is the responsibility of the petitioner to demonstrate their ability to support the beneficiary. The is absoultely NO requirement to even have a bank account. The documents listed in the instructions from the consulate are suggestions of documents that can be used, they are NOT requirments.

To the OP, sounds like you are good to go. Many banks have a policy of not giving a bank letter.

You do NOT need any bank information for San Jose. You need your I-134, letter from employer, a couple of pay stubs, and last years tax return with W-2. Consulate at this Embassy is easy and generally interviews last about 5 minutes.

Congrats! I wish I could get my NOA-2. 160 days and counting...

Best wishes for your interview!

Pura Vida!!!
