Requesting interview at a different consulate?

The Mauritius embassy does not process K1 visas, and thus my packet will be sent to Nairobi, Kenya when the time comes. Will they allow us to request a different consulate (preferably Paris)? Thanks for any help..

That is correct- the beneficiary needs to be legally resident in the country he wants to interview in.

I responded in your other thread. The travel warning is for the country in general. You ( actually he ) doesn't have to go wandering the streets looking for trouble. He has to arrive, find a place of lodging , get to the interview, maybe stay some more, the get back to the airport. There are several cases were immigrant interviews are in a near by country. If you read the travel warnings for half the countries they sounds just about the same.

Technically it is down to the Consulate whether they would accept to interview him. He could ask.

He can ask if he has legal residency in the country. The OP is complaining about a negative travel report for the embassy assigned to the country of birth. She doesn't know how overly inflated the warning are.

I had to go to Juarez, Mexico, which is one of the 10 most dangerous cities in the world. The list also includes Baghdad, Iraq, and Karachi, Pakistan. Kenya? Please. That's a vacation. Honestly though, it wasn't that bad once I was there. I wouldn't worry about the travel warning.
