Hi there,

I'm in the same position as you. My husband had his interview in Dhaka U.S Embassy on Aug 15th so its been a little over 4 months. They kept his passport and gave him a blue 221g slip and told him they will notify him when the AP is finished! No one can tell you exactly how long you have to wait because it depends on individual case and the case load at the embassy...Contacting the embassy is pointless they won't give you a direct answer, but you can try calling the Department of State (DOS) to learn about your husband's case status call: (202) 663-1225 dial 1 then 0 to speak to a representative.

Hope this helps!

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Pakistan
Timeline

Sorry for the AP... its such a heartbreaking experience... AP is done for different reasons on different cases.... we had mandatory ap which is required cos of the country my husband is from... we did get a request for a document which was submitted directly after interview and once that was done they began the name checks.

There is so much we don't know about AP... years ago they could tell us where they were in our case if they were doing name checks, if they were cmpleted, if they were reviewing documents etc... now all they say is pending review or pending ap...

but my suggestion is to do what the other poster said and call DOS..when you call take notes on who you spoke with and what they said exactly. Sometimes a pattern emerges an d you can see its moving along.

Good luck!!

I know its frustrating, but before you fly off to Bangladesh try emailing the embassy at DhakaIV@state.gov or calling them to get in contact with citizen services at 0118802-8855500. And ask them about your husbands case. But be advised that they might get agitated if you contact them too many times...speaking from personal experience!

No they didn't ask my hubby for any documents however, they called him back the day after his interview to fill out the questionnaire.

The AP is mandatory for all men between the ages of 21-45 applying for visa in T-zone countries. And Bangladesh is one of the T-zone countries.

Don't worry have patience and stay positive for you and your husband, everything will be okay soon. If something starts it has an end!

Take care.
