I used no software. The requirements state to write the information on the BACK of the photo. That is what I did for both the individual prints and the sheets with multiples.

While altering the photo may seem great, I just can't see what is wrong with following the directions. My Bic pen teamed up with my right hand seemed to work just fine.

Totally Agree.

I am sure that someone would perceive that you are altering a photo from its original format... which in some circles could be deemed the magic word "Forgery".

not ideal when dealing with the USCIS.

Good luck.

Why would you need to put the date on the pictures ? The date means nothing in reality. I can change the date on my camera at anytime and put what ever date I want in there and they know that. Besides if they blow up the picture and investigate the pixels and it looks forged, that could be very bad for you and hard to explain away.

There were no dates on my pictures but I have signed receipts from the hotels to put me there including at least 10 other items which put me in the same area which include charges to my credit card and other receipts.

You should at least tell them what date the pictures were taken. Otherwise, they're free to conclude that they were taken more than two years ago, or that they're pictures of two random people you found on the internet. What they generally want to know is when and where the pictures were taken, and who appears in the pictures. There have been enough RFE's over undated photos to back this up. It's sufficient to just write the information on the back of the photo. Or, you can print multiple photos on a single sheet of paper and write the information next to each picture. You can even use a page layout program like MS Word to do this. As long as they can see the picture and the information you claim about the picture (who, where, and when), and the primary evidence corroborates this, then they'll accept it.

I do not think any of this is bad advice.

For the petition I sent one photo, undated, unmarked and unidentifiable as to where it was a taken (a restraunt in Prague) but it does not matter WHERE you met anyway. We happened to meet by chance in a country neither of us lived in. Good enough. We also met 4 more times before we filed the petition but I never mentioned those meetings as it was not needed. We were approved without an RFE

I also attached copies of passport stamps and boarding passes and passport style photos of both of us. I am sure they did not guess who was in the photo of us together. Since I had passport stamps in passports with the same names and photos as the two people petitioning, boarding passes in the same two names...I am sure they did not think it was a random photo from the internet

Since dates on photos can be changed, particularly with a program like this, and even random photos from people off the internet could be altered, photos are secondary evidence of meeting.

Now, include a photo or photos WITH evidence you were both in the same place at the same time AND that time is the same time you claim to have met and VOILA!...now we are talking. PLAUSIBLE evidence that you did indeed meet in person within the last two years.

I mean think about it a moment. You were in a country, heck I have been in the US all my life and have never met Jim, or his wife. There are like 45 million people in Ukraine I have NOT met but I lived there for two years and visited many times.

But if I prove to you I was there on January 21, 2011 and say I met a woman who lives there January 21, 2011 and give you a photo of us together and say it is from January 21, 2011 and attach a passport photo of the woman and she looks the same...good enough.
