My personal rankings (yours may differ) of the five worst presidents:

5. Theodore Roosevelt (socialist)

4. Jimmy Carter (need we say why?)

3. Franklin D. Roosevelt (socialist)

2. B. Hussein 0bama

1. Woodrow Wilson

ETA: My choices for the five best:

1. George Washington

2. James Madison

3. Thomas Jefferson

4. Ronald Reagan

5. James K. Polk

I have mixed feelings about TR. Definitely a socialist. But he DID love Winchester rifles, particularly the M1895, and I will give him bonus points for that.

His career is a hoot because the Republicans did all they could to shuffle him off to some useless position just to get rid of him. He kept popping out, someone was always dying. The Russians would have bumped him off in a horse wreck when he was playing cowboy, or at least would have fragged him in Cuba.

Otherwise, I am with you.

I still think we are better off with Obama than McCain as President, but that just shows you how screwed up American politics is.

You hit it with that post. It's like what's the lesser of two evils. It sucks. Either way we are fcked, it's just a matter of who's going to fck us less.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You know, I had a hard time arguing with that post too. I think Obama is a terrible president, but McCain was hardly better.

McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. That right there takes him out of the running.

That's the only thing that kept him IN the running, "0bama Lite" though he was.

Theodore Roosevelt returned from a safari, entered the presidential race as the third-party "Bull Moose" candidate, split the Republican vote, and put the ####### Woodrow Wilson in the White House. The gentle President Taft, who finished third in the race, tearfully said afterwards, "I don't see how I could have done any differently than I have done."

Putting Wilson in the White House by itself qualifies T. Roosevelt for the all-time Worst Presidents list. And Jimmy Carter was a true incompetent and an idiot, but Wilson was both capable and evil. Income tax, anyone? League of Nations (now United Nations), anyone? Rat-#######.

T. Roosevelt almost certainly would have won the 1920 presidential race, had he been around to run, but he died the year before.

Carter screwed Alaska big time. He took most of our land and made it Federal Park land which means it can't be developed. People here wanted him dead, and it was because of him the "Alaska Independence Party" took off so big. They wanted to succeed from the US. Carter still comes to Alaska every summer to go fly fishing, but he flies straight from the airport in Anchorage to the lodge. I think he's a nice guy...it's just that he's clueless and unrealistic.
