Hi,

I am really confused about supporting documents for I-864. Instructions for I-864 says that "provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year." It means that we dont need to submit both (IRS transcript and Federal individual income tax return) at the same time, either one is fine. But on this web site, a document: "James's Shortcuts" lists both items(IRS transcript and Federal income tax return) to be submitted with I-864. so which one is correct? Please help me.

Thanks a lot.

When I sent the I-864 in, I sent only the below and it was approved:

- I-864 Coversheet (with barcode)

- Form I-864 (signed and dated)

- Letter of Employment (Original)

- 2010 Tax Transcript (Original)

- 2009 Tax Transcript (Original)

- 2008 Tax Transcript (Original)

- Pay Stubs from the last 6 months

That being said, I have read on here from interview experiences that the CO may ask for the W2 and 1040s from the last tax season or two. I will be making sure my wife has these in her hand at the interview as well as have her submit these to VFS office before the interview.

Hi Steven and Ashish,

Thanks for this info. I have one more question about DS-3032. Did you send email for DS-3032 or just sent a paper form(DS-3032) to NVC. Because some says that email didn't work for them. Please clarify, Thanks for your help.

Hi, Sam. I did send it by email and immediately received an automated response that they have received it. I have read a few where it takes a few days to get the automated response message but mine did come right away.

It may take some time (week or two) for them to process this however. It took mine about 12 days. Once your DS-3032 is accepted, your IV Bill will be generated in a few days and then you can pay that online.

Also, regarding the 864 packet, make sure to write your case number in the right hand corner of every page including the 864.
