Talked to lawyer, I don’t know whether he was telling us truth or just wanted us to jump in the pool so we can be totally dependent on him as per lawyer this AP can be more longer,, he said Islamabad is known for delaying cases, especially with those cases, who are married to Convert Muslim Americans, and Non Muslim American with Pakistani Muslim Guys and also those couple who have much age difference.

He said consulate does nothing just pile up the cases and then sit & wait... He told my wife to visit Pakistan every year.. We are so confused what to do, as not sure whether to file case against Consulate or wait.

Sounds like your lawyer just wants your to rely only upon them.. yes AP does last a while in islamabad but not because they arent; working on the cases but because they put the beneficiary thru many more checks than most other embassies... all you have to do is call DOS to know what's going on.. they won't tell you what but we got some info the first of january that we had sevearl updates to our case the last few days in december...so we do know they are working on our case even tho we are at 8 months.

to be able to explain it well its like when you hurry up to a stop light and get stopped at red anyway...you have no choice but to wait until it turns green. Same thing with name checks.. you wait in a que to load your info... it goes thru that check then it gets sent to the next waiting line.

Our congressman explained to me that the databases aren't really teh best as they don't communicate with eachother well so if they are doing checks one place another place may also be doing them and not telling the other one what they are doing.

Just hang in there.. they really don't sit on cases.. the only reason they don't work on the cases is they are waiting for information to come back to put into the casefile and they will take it back up then and move forward to the next step whatever that may be.

And unless its been over a year of AP there isn't much you can do but wait.. cArolyn has been waiting for 15 months since first interview which is why she is filing the lawsuit

I would like to know the reasons that Pakistan does not edit their timelines to help others? It seems this is the most difficult consulate and I would think their own people would want to help each other. I looked at many emppty timelines and hardly no consulate reviews.

I hope Pakistan applicants open up their hearts to try and help others by giving others a guide with their own timeline.

Is their a reason? Superstitions? Fear? Muslims are usually very kind and helpful people and not selfish. So, this withholding of information confuses me.

I know I do not belong to this thread but I cannot help but want you all to get your visas and be with your loved ones.

I read all of VJ and tried to find the right questions to get answers from DOS.

Some people posted that these questions got some responses. Try a different one everyday. Do not ask all at one time.

I call DOS alot. and twice they gave me info other than mandatory AP.

Once he told me background checks were ordered the day of the interview and they are just waiting to be reviewed.

and friday she said someone has actively touched his file today

So, good luck to everyone. I hope we all get to be with our spouses soon.

what is the last update to the case and when

Can you tell me the date of the last update?

DO you know how much longer? Sometimes they can say you are in your last 30 days because they know a certain check has to wait 30 days until it clears.

When was the last time someone accessed his file

when was the consulate last updated by the agencies

I also wanted to inform those who are in Karachi. Passports are sent to American Express in Karachi and when they receive it they call you. In my case that didn't happen. My husband's visa was approved on the 30th of January and the embassay said we have sent the packet. We waited and waited for American Express to call until one day we decided to just stop by at their office and that too after a week or something. Guess what..american express received his passport on the 2nd of Feb..they were just too lazy to call...and after the whole week..they still didnt call....and upon asking why they didn't call us..their response was "maazrat"...

inshAllah inshALlah you'll all get your visa approved real soon...when you find out you did..don't wait for american express to call you...

I dont know if that helps...i just wanted to share my experience so nobody else goes through that...

We're stepping it up a notch and headed for the senator now for help. Don't know what they can do but the congressman has tried now it's time for the senator... Just wish the name checks would be finished and we could get this done so we can start our family and our lives in one home!!!

Usually you can contact a congressman or senator after about 5 months and they will begin inquiries.. they may not get much more information but the sentators office i spoke with yesterday said that sometimes everything is back in the case but nobody knows it and an inquiry may have them pick the case back up to answer their email and realize its completed or that another check just came back etc.. also lets them know another government office is interested in your case... so yes.. contact them if your past about 5 months... otherwise they may say give it more time

they can't make them finish it but it does let them know it needs attention
