If this is your first U.S. visa then it may take even longer. If the tracking shows Issued then at least 5 days to get your passport from Amex Islamabad. They won't answer.

Just wanted to share this with all of you. I was told by Nvc today that police certificates are no longer required from Pakistan due to their validity!! So sad that pakistan offical documents cannot be considered valid!!! I blame pakistan corrupt system for Ap more than American delaying the process!! I am sure with them not accepting police certificates there will be more people going through Ap in coming future!! May Allah make This easier and quicker process for all of us.Ameen!!

Does this mean if one has been in AP for more than 6 months they wont have to provide another police certificate since it is valid for only 6 months? Its been 7 months for us and I was actually thinking that the embassy might tell us to get another one or so.

Not sure but I would assume so! If they are not accepting it from beginning step at Nvc, it doesn't make sense to request it later.

do the DOS visa specialist tell everyone in AP that 'the case is pending'. I asked her if the 'AP' has begun yet. But all she said was 'it is pending'. I asked her if all 5 in our case need AP she didnt even answer that! calling the DOS is of no help i guess
