Pennsylvania Republicans Redrew Their State To Eliminate The Existence Of Democrats

Welcome to the new Pennsylvania which will look like it is trending Republican for a decade. Real Clear Politics' Sean Trende is already calling it the "gerrymander of the decade."

Republicans who seized control of the Pennsylvania legislature, have redrawn their congressional districts such that there are 12 solidly Republican seats out of 19 districts in a state that has 2-3 percent more Democrats than Republicans.

The different colors in the map above represent the newly redrawn congressional districts, and the blue lines represent actual counties.

The redistricting plan is expected to pass this week and it will have consequences. It will force Democratic Reps. Jason Altmire and Mark Critz into a primary in a new district that is trending Republican. It dramatically helps Republican freshmen like Lou Barletta and Tom Marino by eliminating urban areas from their districts and extending their territory into more rural area.

elections have consequences.

Obama had two years of a rubber stamp congress and did nothing. This resulted in a resounding defeat of Dems in 2010 (you remember that) and the end of the global warming debate. Conveniently in the year of a census. You may also recall that the REASON for a cenmsus is to determine representation in the Huse of Representatives, and none other. It also handed over redistricting to Republicans. Good move Obama.

This is the same reason for the retirement of Barney Frank. Obama is also the reason that Dems lost Teddy Kennedy's seat in the Senate.

Obama will go down in history as the single greatest promoter of the Republican party and the best firearms salesman ever.

We're trying to do the same thing here.

We have a completely red state with a half dozen blue dots. Doesn't make much sense to have blue reps when the whole state is red.

Why act as if this is something new, many states NC included has districts which snake through certain areas with the clear intent to elect given demographics.

Just so happens the candidate of "HOPE" has cost democrats more than most realize with his last election "shellacking".
