Hey guys!

I am an American Citizen born in California, 24 years of age.

I got married in Instanbul, Turkey on November 25th, 2011 to my Wife, which is Iranian and Lives in Iran and is 17 years of age.

I got ALL the paper work ready and gave it to my laywer...

she sent all of the paper work in yesterday for the 1st step of the process!

**Hopefully step 1 takes less than 4 months**

Anyway,

I have a few questions which I'm finding extremely hard to get answered correctly!

1. When it becomes time for her interview, she will have to fly to Ankara, Turkey to get her interview. Do I have to go to the interview?

She has a HUGE wedding album, OVER 200 pages of facebook conversations, and over 400-600 pictures of me and her together including hundreds of pictures of her family and my family together.

Basically what I am saying is that she has a TON of evidence of the relationship.

On top of that she knows pretty much everything and anything about me!

Will this be enough for the interview, or is it strongly suggested I go to the interview as well?

2. After the Interview is over, I do understand that the wait to get her Visa is anywhere between 1 day to 2 weeks in MOST cases.

Problem is, her country of Iran's Mail is EXTREMELY unreliable. Chances of her Visa getting mailed to her and actually making it to her house is probably 20%. In other words, it won't happen.

What can we do?!

Can she let the embassy know at the time of the interview that mail is basically not an option due to the unreliable mail from that country and basically wait for the Visa to get "ready" while she stays at a hotel for 1-2 weeks?

3. My lawyer said that its going to be much harder for her to come to the USA as the USA and Iran are not friendly to eachother.

Will this affect our processing times?

THanks SO much guys!!!

Im really confused and could use your help!

#1 - It is not required for you to go with her at the time of interview.

#2 - She may request to pick up the visa directly. Hopefully it can be done, and she can get the visa within 1 or 2 days.

#3 - That is true about Iran. I read alot of crazy stories about Iran, and how much they have controlling over ladies. Like Mumlim ladies cant marry to non-muslim guy, so many things like that. I feel scared to ever go to Iran based on stories. Non Muslim people live in fear in that country.

When the lawyer said it's hard for her to come to the US and might delay processing, he was probably referring to Administrative Processing. You should be prepared for AP: after she passes the interview she may go through a system of namechecks and investigations. The visa is tentatively approved but won't be issued until AP finishes. She might have to mail in more documents. AP can last from months to years, but probably months since she's a woman, if she has to go through AP at all.

Some states do not allow marriage under 18. So check with texas state. But, by the time you have your interview she will probably be 18. So it should be ok.

The State Department has designated Iran as a State Sponsor of Terrorism; AP is very likely to occur. As intx already alluded to, you need to think of AP in terms of when, not if and then hope it's only a matter of a few months and not many months (or years).

You have good accurate answers already but I'll just add that the strongest evidence of a bona fide relationship is the documented time you spend together. You would be wise to plan more visits and for as long as practical. This is going to take a while. The worst thing you could do is fail to continue to visit your wife in Iran.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Thanks a ton for the answer guys!

I will seriously be AMAZED if we have to go through administrative processing.

Shes a little girl!!!

I read several threads with a search about Administrative processing and found it very interesting (not in a good way...)

I'm going to cross my fingers we do not get stuck in AP. That would be terrible. I feel like I am dyeing inside without her next to me, here :-(
