Hi there. For about the last two weeks my fiance who lives in Rabat has had a hell of a time getting a video connection established. This is how we have always communicated. Once in a while it will work for about 20min and then completely freeze up. He is able to connect to the internet and we can type thru messages but for over a year we havnt had any trouble with video chat before. Loading pages seems to be taking longer or him. He doesnt have any virus' and has called the ISP and they tell him that they will look into it....only God knows if that is really happening. IS anybody else experiencing this or know anthing about what may be goin on? Thanks

My husband lives in Fes and we have been having the same issues... Although today was a very good connection day.... I don't know if it is from his side or my side or the video chat we are using.... It is very nerve racking though...

Has he tried to format the computer/re-install the operating system? My then fiance and I had some problems once in a while, and we ruled out some by first using other programs(msn or yahoo), then only voice through skype, and video through msn. But before anything else, clean the computer for dust. Esp. laptops collect dust but video cards are doing the same. If the computer freezes then it shouldn't have anything to do with his connection.

After the last skype upgrade my laptop(using it only has backup) completely shut down and blue screened me several times. I know it was a matter of upgrading the memory though. And skype sucks it out of the computer if it's a newer version of skype and the computer is old/older.

EDIT: I know you posted it in a regional forum but it's worth to at least look at other possibilities too.

For the connection tell him to check his modem to see how strong it is perhaps he has to replace it or move the location of where he places it especially if he is using the USB modems that are very common through Maroc Telecom. Most modems there work effectively for about a year. If PC is very slow tell him to defragment the hard drive. If this does not work tell him to uninstall / /install yahoo messenger or the program you are using (caution save all conversations before jr does this). The last resort is using the recovery disks and take the PC to original company setting. Most users in Morocco do not have the recovery disks as PCs don't there don't come with them but the repair shops there will take care of it.

We spoke to family today and our connection was decent.

Good luck.

I have the same problem when i talk with my mother. I found out that it's the connexion is bad nowadays in whole Morocco. Maroc Telecom which is the main Internet provider said there was an incident, here is what they said: " An incident occurred on a submarine cable, which explains the reduction in the rate of Internet connection you have found.". That was 12 days ago, and they said that they fixed it, but we still face the same problem whenever we talk these days. We dont know what's going on there, is it really that incident or something else. I hate that company, high prices and the worst service.
