Johansson - your case is MUCH less scary than a few replies here seem to imply it is. I think there is probably a process for you - either DCF, K3, or CR-1 route that will work very well for you. Sounds like you may be in the very fortunate decision of being WITH your sweetie for nearly all of the time it takes to process the forms for whichever option you choose. That's very cool!

A note on the side, though you didn't bring it up: should you want to go the routes tha require marriage prior to filing for anything (a K3 spousal visa, the CR-1 route for spouses, or DCF), you would have the option of marrying here in the US, not just in Sweden. BUT the difference is that you can't remain here after marriage - well, you can, he can't.

To clarify, there's no paperwork needed to enter the US (unless you need a visitor visa, but Sweden is visa waiver program eligible, right?) to get married. Paperwork is needed to enter the US and STAY in the US to make a life after marriage. The US can be a wedding "destination" just like the Carribean, etc. :)

I only bring this up in case you were worried about where to have the wedding - which is a different concern then where you'll be starting married life together (sounds like it would be Sweden - or could be). You should make sure you are aware of ALL your options - upsides and downsides - before you get married or file anything at all.

Best of luck!
