Just wanted to reinforce what Tim/Mav has said in regards to the passport.

If you are using the passport as proof of citizenship, it needs to be ALL pages from front to back. It states it in the instructions, but I'm too lazy to go and get that right now and copy/paste. Sorry. loool.

If you submit your Birth Certificate, the passport is not needed.

However, you still need to submit your passport with the stamps after you go and visit her. I'd be safer than sorry, and still photocopy it (preferably in color) from front to back, all pages included. This will be your Primary Evidence that you were in fact in her country and visiting her.

I am not going to send this all with the I-129F. What I am saying is that I want to have it prepared because I am not going to be able to help her fill anything out once I sent in the I-129F. I know none of these papers are going with the 129-F. I simply want to fill them all out now so I can have the properly prepared for her, as she will not be able to do any of this herself. I don't think you quit understand what I am asking.

I-134 is your information, as it is an Affidavit of Support. You could fill these out, but I would not. By the time she does her interview, you will have probably filed your 2011 taxes, which is what they will want. You would have to fill out the information again and send it to her anyway, along with your 2010 and 2009 tax receipts.

As for the other forms, I suppose you could fill them out early and just have her date and sign them after you receive the NOA2, as long as you know none of the information will change. I can't tell you if this is wise or not. I know that the Police Certificates are time sensitive and such. So, do so if it makes you feel better. But be prepared to be sending more things or giving her more instruction, or possibly rewriting the application and mailing it. I don't really know to be honest.

We sent in the final divorce decree but were given an RFE and asked for the divorce certificate.

What is the difference in decree and certificate? I thought they both have the same information.

I know this already, What I am asking is for information regarding those forms because My fiance is not capable of filling these out herself and compiling them accurately. I am going to see her in 1 week. With me, I am bringing all the paper work she needs to sign. When I get home I will then send in my I-129F. I will not be able to return to see her to help her fill out the forms for the next step. So I would like to bring them with me now so that she can sign everything she needs to and at a later date I will compile all the paper work she needs for the interview and send them to her. That is why I am thinking ahead.

Smile, totally understand regarding being prepared for the next step. Perhaps you can help her fill out the forms but it may be best for her to sign and date at the time they need to be submitted. Please be sure to read each form carefully because not all forms are to be signed ahead of time but to be signed once at the interview for example the DS-156K is signed at the embassy. My thoughts are the same to be prepared ahead of time because there are certain documents that are required with those next set of forms and it will give her an idea to know what to obtain when needed. For instance she can prepare letter of intent to marry, have a birth certificate on hand, etc. DS-156K states what documents will be needed later on. Hope that helps some. Hoping the best for the both of you :)

What is the difference in decree and certificate? I thought they both have the same information.

We thought so also. The difference was on the final divorce order the person reading for info had to figure out what the date I was actually free to marry. It stated when the divorce was granted and that I was free to marry in 31 days. The divorce certificate says I was divorced on ?? date and was free to marry on !! date. That was the only difference both came from the court house.

I know none of these papers are going with the 129-F. I simply want to fill them all out now so I can have the properly prepared for her, as she will not be able to do any of this herself. I don't think you quit understand what I am asking.

Some people might not be able to follow what you are saying, but I understand completely. To clear up a few things:

You only need one passport photo from each of you for the petition and not two. I am not sure why that was being harped on. It states in the K-1 guide here that you only need one for each of you. That is what I, and many others, sent and were approved with no problem.

When sending a copy of your birth certificate, you do not need to send in all the pages of your passport. You can just send in the pages that show your passport stamps to prove you met within the last 2 years prior to filing. They will coincide with the copies of your airline boarding passes you will also send. You can also make a copy of your bio pages to go along with the pages that have the stamps to show it is your passport. There is no requirement to send in all the pages from your passport. I, and many others, did not send them all and were approved with no problem.

From what you are saying, this will be your first trip there to meet in person and then you will file the I-129F after. You are not planning on going back before or during her interview time. Some consulates might frown on the single meeting and you not being present for the interview. Read up on the consulate your fiancee will be interviewing at to see if the one meeting and you not being at the interview is no problem. Check the website for the consulate she will be going through and download the forms that will be needed later at that stage. Help her fill them out and explain them to her, as she will need to know what she is signing. Let her sign and date them close to when she will go for her interview. Prepare the I-134 and your financial evidence documents closer to the time of her interview and mail them to her. You will be needing to include recent pay stubs and the most recent tax transcripts. By the time she will interview, you will need transcripts for the 2011 tax year.

Just follow the instructions for the I-129F and the K-1 guides here on VJ. You might want to also look around in the regional VJ forum for the country she in to learn about the interview procedures for her particular consulate. You can also click the link the at the top of VJ for Reviews: Embassy and look up the one she will go through to see what people said that went through there already.

Good luck!

Make sure you send front and back copies of your SSN and Birth Certificate (even if they're blank). And label the pictures to describe what the agent is looking at (i.e. Birth Certificate Front, Social Security Card for _________ Front, etc.).

If I wanted to prepare all the forms for the next step (all the ones I mentioned below) am I able to fill all of these out myself and print them? Such as the DS-156, where it cannot be saved. The problem is, my fiance will not be able to obtain these forms and fill them out accurately without me. So I would like to have them signed and prepared in advance when I go see her in one week.

your already going insane over just filing the I-129F so how bout you get that done and then move your attention to what comes next??

My main concern is that I see forms: I-134, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-158, and DS-230. I am unsure about which of these need to be sent with this package, if any. The I-134 Affidavit of Support, does this need to be filled out and turned in with the I-129F? Would it hurt if I sent it with anyway? The DS-156 concerns me because you cannot save a copy of this and it almost looks like it must be filled out with the consular. Would it hurt or help if I sent all of these anyway? Any explanation these forms and anything I am missing will be much appreciated. I cannot wait to go through all of this so I can help people in the future too. Thanks so much!!

These forms are needed during beneficiary's' interview.

Kindly fill out your info and double check with the beneficiaries embassy because they could be different from one country to another.

For an instance, in the Philippines all beneficiaries here are required to submit DS157 but in some countries it's only for male beneficiaries.

Happy New Year!

Color Copy of passport cover to cover is strongly advised. go to office depot etc and make several copies cover to cover. It can also establish you were there in her country to meet. ALL PAGES , even the blank ones.

My passport has a few stickers security has attached over the years. I even recommend copying the outside covers too.

But I like to have these kind of things scanned to a file and burn to a CD. You can print copies any amount or any time you want then.
