How did you find your shipment to track it on DHL? Today NVC told me they don't give a tracking number...

When I called them and the AVR stated when my file left for m embassy i utilized the info.

I was told my file left on the Dec 14th( dhl picks up the shipment from NVc abt 4pm-5pm at boston ) so I went to DHL website and clicked on "track by shippers reference" I typed:

EXP 15 DEC 2011A (That is NVCs waybill number).

then in the date range depending on what day I am looking, I chose dec 14th - the present. eg say I was doing the search on the 1th so that will be the end date. if you want it country specific then select your country as the destination if not leave it blank then you can see files on transit to various consulates.

You need to have the confirmation that your file has moved from NVC before... :)

To confirm, i requested email delivery confirmation from DHL website for the package I thought contained my file and I got a feedback mentioning my embassy as the recipient. when I enquired from the embassy they responded to my email that my file has been received as opposed to before when they said they did not have it yet.

Waybill??

Wait! is that the case is completed? Then U can check it?

what is next step when ur case is completed.

Waybill is some form of tag some organizations are given which they use to ship packages via courier companies

NVCs way bill is EXP xx XXX xxxxA:

xx stands for the day your case was sent to the embassy/consulate + one day( mine was sent on DEC 14th but I always entered 15 DEC cos 14th did not rutn up any info----- so it was :EXP 15 DEC 2001A

XXX stands for the first three letters of the month (e. NOV, DEC, JAN)

xxxxA --stands for the year +A ( e.g 2011A, 2010A, some countries zones require the letter B at the end)

After ur case complete, your file is forwarded to the embassy once they have an interview date. Call NVC frequently until you get your date and the AVR is later updated to inform you when your file leaves their office for your embassy/consulate.

how long did it take for your package to be delivered to the embassy?

3-4 business days depending on distance and other logistics. Mine was rejected by the embassy staff for whtever reason so they had to make another delivery attempt the following day. so it was picked up in boston on the 15 and delivered on the 20th instead of the 19th("recipient refused delivery" as per DHL tracking)

with the holidays ahead.....maybe tuesday if not earlier :)

sorry I meant shipper's reference NOT waybill. the EXP xxx XXX XXXXA is NVC shipper's reference. once you find ur shipment, you can then see the 10 digit way bill number which you then use for more personalized tracking of your package instead of the reference

pardon me but, at which stage does the file travel to the embassy our case is closed at NVC october 31 and thus far no visa call it is a CR1 case...

wow!!! that is going on three months now. Usually when NVC closes your case, the file is sent to the embassy within two weeks and they tell you this via an agent(if you call) or the AVR. What does the AVR message say when you enter your case number?

Did you email your consulate to see if they received your file yet. Its beena while so I doubt if the DHL track will still show your shipment. I would suggest emailing the embassy indicate your case number in the subject line( or how ever the email protocol is ) and ask them to confirm receipt of your file and when your interview is.

Also you could call NVC now, hear what the AVR says first( in case it still mentions the date your case left NVC, mine still does). If not call back tomorrow and speak with an operator telling them your case has been closed since so date and you have not heard anything further about interview. all the best

Ok it appears due to the move to mumbai, there has been backlog in getting interview dates for people...and NVC sends the file once they are able to get a slot for the beneficiary. As soon as they get a date for you, an agent will be able to give you the date and also the AVR will indicate that your file has departed for mumbai instead of still giving the case complete message you mentioned above. Mine was also saying that but changed as soon as my file left NVC. I would still suggest you email them, sometimes their email response gives more info than you would get over the phone ( sometimes). The CR-1 is numerically controlled because it is 'spouse of permanent resident" as opposed to IR-1 which is "spouse of a U.S. citizen"( someone correct me if I am wrong)
