My mother in law was denied a tourist visa. They say she applied in Trinadad in the past. She does not recall applying. Is it possible, it could be a mistake Trinadad Embassy does not approve Grenada Citizens. What can we do? She is heart broken.

You really cant do anything. She can re-apply. If someone has used her identity to apply for a visa in the past she may have bigger problems. It wouldn't be just her name either, they would have to know her passport number as well. I would be more concerned about the identity theft first.

Wow. Thanks...so in a foreign country were do you start to fix this. The person did not get the visa. They would not have taken her fingerprints for an interview. I hope this is all a mistake. I have emailed the embassy.

Its unlikely that the embassy will respond to you with any useful information as you were not the applicant. Applying for a visa in Trinidad is not a reason for denial so you may want to ask her more questions. The reason they denied her is because they think she intends to immigrate and the case she presented wasn't strong enough to change the CO's mind.

Read about visa denials here http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/denials/denials_1361.html and try to find out more specifically what the CO said to her.

Good luck
