This would be true with a limited amount of men. If you have one woman and six guys, sure, this would work out. But, when it's more like 70 to 1 or something, there's always that douchebag (or 10) who will go out of his way to "get the girl" and he can do so because the rest of the guys are too busy getting the job done.

Oh yeah, you have those too. Especially when I am out at the rig when there are 70+ men, but those guys get hazed by the rest of the guys and are set back in their place pretty fast.

Men also experience domestic violence. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the women claiming they experienced violence were the violent ones themselves or violent as well as the man.

I'm sure there's quite a lot of that happening too. But that doesn't mean they should take domestic violence any less seriously. If anything, they should investigate more. I also agree that at times, women are the ones initiating violence. It's quite interesting because I have been hearing cases like this on my local news, a lot more than usual, of self-defense by men.

It happens a lot but more often than naught nothing is done about it and that's for a few reasons imo. Men that don't report it for the fact they don't want to look like a pansy and cops not doing anything about it because they find it more amusing than anything. It's different rules for the sexes when it comes to DV's, and it's a third rule when it comes to a cop beating their spouse. Cops rarely if ever get taken to account on DV's yet they are by far the worst when it comes to coming home from work and beating your spouse. Funny thing about it though is those cases usually aren't prosecuted.

And if and when a woman does get prosecuted for DV she doesn't face the same sentencing guidelines as a man would. Until the scales are even on both sides there's going to be animosity out there from people like myself who have been down that road more than once.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I am more interested in rushing home and putting dinner on the table before my husband gets home.

But I have realized over time that most of these guys who cry about "special treatment" usually suck at their job and blame someone else for not getting what they think they are entitled to instead of working harder or looking for a job that they are actually good at.

QFT....I do no see successful men who are good at their jobs whine about women and "special treatment." They are not threatened by them and appreciate working with talented people.

 I usually do the cooking in my house, but with this morning (aka All Day) Sickness, the smell of cooking food makes me violently ill. Hubs has been cooking some days & I have realized why I normally do all the cooking.

Although the kids love his macaroni & cheese with hot dogs concoctions (among other things), he keeps telling me he can't wait for me to feel better so I can cook again.

The US is a huge country, with different states having different "cultures" so to speak. I'm quite tired of the "American Women are fat, complicated, lazy" banter. Because it's just not true. Sure, there are fat, lazy, crazy American women. But there's also fat, lazy, crazy American men.

Absolutely - the problems with American culture are not limited to women.

Only if she doesn't like it.

I had a girlfriend that would start fights with me and then I'd bend her over the table or throw her up against the wall, etc. She loved that sh!t. She'd come up and slap me for no reason, start yelling at me, pushing me, etc., and wouldn't stop until I satisfied her craving.

After that, she'd make me a sandwich and shut the f'ck up.

I should've married her.

See above.

Luckily this girl was playful with it but I kept waiting for the day when she'd flip and call 9-1-1 claiming I'd beaten her and raped her. You've gotta watch the crazy ones. There's a thin line between eroticism and criminal activity and the sad part is, our justice system lets that line be drawn based on her whim. The crazy ones are fun, but that extreme personality and emotional high can swing both ways.

Nothing like waking up with her straddling you holding a knife. Good times!

Was she a nurse?

One day you may have a daughter, and she'll be an American woman, right? Do you think she would deserve to be lumped into that stereotype? I don't think so. I know my daughter sure doesn't.

I don't stereotype American men, although there are crappy ones that exist, sure. I'm well aware that there's lots of great American men I could have married. Heck, I have some great friends and relatives - all American men, all awesome. My sons are American.

As someone expecting a girl... this is a major concern of mine. She'll even be doubly screwed being British-American; probably the worst combination of nationalities in the world! :P Unfortunately, Alex and I can't help being the nationalities we are.

Apart from the mild stereotyping, I agree with every post on the first page - especially Vanessa's and Nina's.

Hubs has been cooking some days & I have realized why I normally do all the cooking.
S-Bone, does he still clean the floor with the traditional Ecu-Peruvian "rag on a stick"? That still happens here, sigh man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You got yourself a keeper there.

I tried to get my husband to help me with making dinner. I should have known that he was upto no good when he gave in without a single protest. He made burgers, steak & eggs for about 2 weeks till I broke down and put a pot of lentil soup on the stove :ranting:

Nope! The hubs is now an official American. He asked Santa for power tools for Christmas. :star: He doesn't do much mopping anyway, usually only when he's home with the baby and she throws something on the floor.
