If you get a EAD/AP do NOT take it to the interview with you, it is not necessary!

And they may take it away!

Hmm well they never asked for the EAD/AP until we volunteered it.

They have to take it, why some ask, some don't but either way the letter says bring it and no one wants to have to go home and return just for the EAD card

I agree. It was really weird. She hasn't asked my wife a single question. I submitted all the evidence with my application even the photos. That maybe helped them make the decision faster.

I think strange interviews are becoming more normal, they aren't asking the same old questions to be found on websites etc, they are getting more precise with what they ask, hubby got grilled and he's the USC, lol

Woohoo! Congrats! My combo card had been picked up on a Monday and was delivered to me by Thursday.

Our interview was 8:30am this morning. We live in Austin so we left our place at 6:30am. With almost no traffice we arrived there at 7:45am so we went ahead to the building.

Passed the security within a minute. Handed out the appointment letter and signed the book and set down. With infopass and all the other stuff, waiting area was almost packed.

At first, me and my husband was so nervous we were shivering for like 5 minutes lol but then as time goes by we got calm down. Around 8:40, IO walked toward us, stood right in front of us, said 'Hello' in Korean

We rode an elevator together chatting to his office. He swore us in and started conversation with asking us if we watched movie called 'Proposal' however we both didn't watch it and he told us it was something about marrying USC for green card and stuff.

Then he asked me my full name.

where I was born.

My birthdate.

What city did I first come in to the States. (Austin was my answer and he asked why did I pick Austin)

How and when did we meet. (He was surprised that we've been together for 6 years!)

If my family lives in the States.

Who came to our wedding.

Have we been to Korea to visit my parents (I told him I couldn't because of my status and he said it wasn't a trick question and he wasn't thinking)

He asked my USC husband his full name.

birthdate.

Where do his parent live.

What immigrations status are the parents.

Between the question we had all these small talks about Korean food, Korean people, his military year in Korea. We had quite a fun interview. We spent almost an hour chatting.

After that he took my EAD card and expired I-94. Then he said he's gonna put a stamp on my passport so meanwhile I wait my green card, I can travel outside of US and can get a job. He even made the stamp valid for one year just in case I would have any troble getting my conditinal green card. Right then he was like 'Oh let me stamp this first' and took out APPROVED stamp and put it on my applications.

He explained Removing condition after one year and 9 months. We can send in as much as evidences so we wouldn't have another interview later and added a child is a rock solid evidence for that if we're planning. If we don't send in lots of evidence USCIS might want to do another interview but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

We did hank shakes and did another small talk in the elevator down to the door.

And tada~ I'm a permenant resident as of today

I just got an email that our interview was scheduled and the notice is in the mail.

Big bummer is that the day they scheduled us, we were supposed to go out of town for a long weekend... Interview location would be out of the way from where our trip is going... My husband wants to try to reschedule once we get the actual letter, but I've looked around on here and rescheduling seems to be a pretty bad idea...

Is your 'out of town for long weekend' a vacation for two of you guys? or is it like a family emergency?

I can't say you have to go to the interview instead of the trip but during the whole procedure our priority was the interview. You can enjoy more your vacation when everything is settled.

It seems like some poeple get rescheduled their interviews and get another date within 1~6 months.

It is totally your business what to do but I'm just saying...

My GC was in mailbox yesterday. Packing stuff for Europe trip in two weeks. I wish all of you the best and I hope your interview is going to be as easy as mine. See ya in one year and 9 months

Is your 'out of town for long weekend' a vacation for two of you guys? or is it like a family emergency?

I can't say you have to go to the interview instead of the trip but during the whole procedure our priority was the interview. You can enjoy more your vacation when everything is settled.

It seems like some poeple get rescheduled their interviews and get another date within 1~6 months.

Definitely not a family emergency lol. It's just something we've been looking forward to fora while. Just our luck that the interview would be that weekend. I pretty much convinced my husband that rescheduling is just not gonna happen, so we're hoping for an appointment in the am, so we can head out of town afterwards... but oh well, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we couldn't go.

My wife got GC on March 17th. The interview about hour, no tough questions, all the basic. Good luck all!!!!

Thank you for running this thread! We filed for AOS on Dec 19th and our case was transferred to CSC on Feb 15th. Now we're playing the good ole' waiting game. At least he already received his EAD and AP documents. They are saying its backed up about 6 months as they are only processing June from last year at this time and yet they said they transferred our case there to speed up processing. Kind of ironic to get two conflicting types of feedback but who cares right? At this stage in the game we are at least all happily married and living with the one we fought for ages to be next to. We are also expecting our son and I have to say there is no greater luck than to have him by my side... makes the waiting less of an issue. Good luck to everyone here and please keep us posted as your final approvals come rolling in. It will at least give us a heads up to start paying attention again.

Having the EAD/AP sure helps alot, atleast that's how I see it. I don't check case status every day waiting around for the greencard. Even though it would be awesome to have immigration related stuff out of the way, I'm more "free" now, being able to work, re-taking driver's license and so forth.
