The SS card does say "Valid For Work Only with DHS Authorization". They said we can apply for a new one with the GC. So we are dead in the water.

The number stays the same and many employer just have you write the number down on applications! I would still go ahead and seek work. It's not as if you are not authorized, is just a matter of no document in hand.

EAD and SS go together. Now we have to wait for the GC to redo the SS.

If you get a job interview, ask if they accept passport as ID, or state ID. If they use E-verify, they can match the information you provided on the I-9. Do you by any change have a copy of your EAD?

To my fellow December filers! Here's how it went today :)

So me and my wife had our interview at 9:30am today at the Detroit USCIS. After a 2 1/2 hour drive we were in Detroit an hour early and we drove around to kill time. We checked in at 8:45 and called in a little after 9:30. Our IO was pretty nice. She swore us in, asked our names, and about our case. She went through the I-130 petition with my wife and the I-485 with me. She asked us about how we met, our wedding, our parents, and our future (kids). She also asked me about my entry into the U.S. in New York because my parents had misplaced my I-94 (used my entry stamp as proof). She looked through some of our photos from high school until now and we submitted our apartment lease, car insurance documents, and bank statements with our names. It lasted about 20 minutes and she told us she couldn't make an immediate decision and would have to look over our case because she had not went through everything. That made us a bit on edge on the drive home, but the approval came online later in the day!

It has been a long journey to this day for me and my wife but we couldn't have done this without the VISAJOURNEY forum!!! THANK YOU!!!

Done with USCIS until ROC in 2014!!

That's true. Our IO also asked me about any public assistance.

I see that the IO took your EAD. She saw mine and she wasn't phased by it. Still have it.
