My date has never changed since the day 1 :)

Sometimes the dates don't change, they might forget to update it on the webpage. It has no significance to your petition other than knowing for sure something was done, just not what. I know at K1 stage it was touched a couple of times, one of them was to correct the date of when the petition was received(that date had been wrong on the online status).

USCIS is anything but transparent when it comes to your petition. It's like getting a phone call without anybody saying something. You know they're there, just not what they're doing :)

How you guys do the tax for 2011... My wife have not get ss# yet....

I was able to get SS#. I went to school and I asked them to work on Campus any time they need it if they will give me a letter to get SS#. I only worked for 3 hours in 2,5 years :) but my plan worked. I was able to get SS#. Even though it was "not valid for work" it was still a SS. I was able to get regular DL, Bank accounts, Credit cards and stuff. After 20 months in school I applied for Optional Personal Training (OPT) and I got EAD card that was valid for a year. So through 2010 and most of the 2011 I was able to work.

I finally did my biometrics today, after all the drama with stuff getting send back, they actually called me to verify the mailing address, so i ended up getting three appointment notices for biometrics... all with the same appointment date...

We were in Denver today, to drop my husband's friend off at the airport, so we figured we'd try to do a walk in (yea... only two days before the appointment). We had to wait a little while, but they were nice enough to take my photo and fingerprints today, so that's out of the way too. back to the waiting game lol

Hello everybody! Im a december filer. I've been married for over a year now, but didn't file AOS before because couldn't find a joint sponsor. So now finally i was able to find one and send my papers. I came in the USA in June, 2010 on J-1 visa (no 2 year rule), adjusted to B-2 which expired in march 2011, so i overstayed. (married before overstayed). I almost sent AOS papers in february 2011, but my USC husband lost his job and i wasn't able to find a joint sponsor. Im glad i found one before my I-693 expired (in february).

So i sent my package on dec 20, had my biometrics on jan 17 and now i got my interview on mar 1. I'm really impressed by how quick the process is going, that makes me happy but also scares me. I expected to get my EAD first, so i could change my ssn and get an ID with my married name on it. Is it still possible for me to get one before my interview? I cannot see if my cases were touched, because when i try to sign into my account on uscis.gov i always get some Internal Server Error (i wonder if only me).

*I wanted to ask you guys if Interview letter is the same for everybody (every case). It says i must bring Form I-693 in a sealed envelope unless already submitted. I did submit mine already, but since it expires in february i'm worried that i need to get a new one. I do have a copy of the old one though.. I really cannot afford another medical examination at this time, so will failure to bring it really result in the denial of my application?

*It also says to bring custody papers for your spouse's children not living with you. What about children living with us? My husband's son is living with us and we're trying to get a full custody of him. My husband wasn't married to his son's mom, so they don't even have any custody papers. Even though i don't understand how it could affect my eligibility to get my GC, but could it? should we bring his ssc and birth certificate? (that's all we have).

*I'm 9 months pregnant, my due date is feb 16. I hope i give birth in time and we dont have any complications so i dont have to reschedule my interview. I tried to research, but get different answers.. Can we bring the baby to the interview? She is gonna be only 2 weeks old, i cannot imagine leaving such a tiny baby with anyone other than my husband. I read yesterday, someone wrote "it even says on the letter not to bring children or babies". I don't see anything like this on my letter. But could it really make an IO mad? I didn't expect to have my interview earlier than april so i wasn't worried about it before.. At least they didn't schedule me on my due date :)

*Proof of bona fide marriage.. Ugh.. seems like we don't have enough.. Baby (which is more than enough evidence for me), joint lease, photos, postcards from family with both our names on them, receipts for presents from my in-laws on our names. We did have a joint bank account but had to close it couple months ago due to bank's changed policy, so i don't know if it's gonna have any value.. We have no bills, no insurance, no property documents. So does it look like not enough or i'm panicking too much? Will it look ok if we bring pictures in an envelope for example, not in the album? or can we even print them of the computer? or it will look too cheap?

thank you everybody for your attention, i hope you can help me figure out some of this stuff..

Hei there, congrats on pregnancy and welcome!

Joint lease is great, birth cert. of your baby with both names on. If you have any letters/bank statements from your bank with your names on, it's definitely not going to hurt you to bring them. What about joint filing taxes? Pictures, wedding pictures, mail with both your names on(Xmas, b-day cards). I'd drag anything along I could. I'm sure as long as you have it there, it doesn't matter that much whether or not it's in an album. I I was almost at my due date I wouldn't be the one squeezing pictures into an album.

As far as bringing a baby to the interview, I haven't read it's a negative factor to have a newborn there unless the waiting time is looooong. Re-scheduling the interview is worse. I'm quite sure they'll understand you can't leave a 2 week old baby anywhere far from you.

USCIS webpage.. Maybe try a different browser, delete cache/cookies. I use google chrome and it works wonders. Sometimes when there's an error it's because it takes to long for the webpage to load. IE is famous for not being the fastest critter in the forest. :)

You do not need a new medical if it was less than a year old when you filed AOS/received NOA1. Don't worry about that if you've already sent a completed medical along with AOS. You could bring a copy of the immunization record to the interview just in case. I think the interview letter also mentions that if you have already submitted some of the stuff mentioned, no need to bring it.

Spuse's children - maybe that's due to the affidavit of support. I have no idea. It might be a good idea to post this question in a new thread so more eyes will see it and give you the answer you'll need. I don't want to guess something that I'm not sure of, I can imagine it's important for you to know the right answer.

EAD - when the case is processed rather fast, they don't always send an EAD before interview but it's still a possibility for you to get it approved before the interview. They normally allow up to 30 days for card production(if I remember correctly) so the question is if you'll even have it before your interview. What you could do is look up BMV/DMV in your state and see if they accept the NOA2 as proof of being in US lawfully. If that's the case, then you can use that to get state ID however it's only some states that see that document as valid.

..Ohh, and my AOS got transferred to CSC(January 26th). Was 99% sure it was the case but got the hardcopy today to confirm it. Wee! I wouldn't have minded an interview though, and know it can still be sent back to a local office.

moomin, thank you for congrants and the reply!

im counting on joint tax return, just waiting on some w-2's, hope they get here soon (my mother-in-law is the slowest person on the earth - she was supposed to send them to us 2 weeks ago). the rest - i'll drag everything i could find with our names on it, just i guess i'm paranoid, mail seems to be easy to fabricate :)

i sure don't want and don't plan on rescheduling my interview unless i'm still at the hospital at the time (shouldn't be hopefully). i was thinking to bring someone (relative) with us to wait with the baby outside, but afraid the wait could be long and baby will get hungry.. oh well, we'll work it out :)

uscis webpage.. google chrome worked, thank you! uscis and Opera don't like each other :) I-130 and I-765 haven't been touched since 12/27, so i guess i'll live without EAD (not like im gonna get a job anytime soon :) ).

thank you once again and congratulations on the transfer!

Thank you, and you're welcome. We're all here for a reason, helping others or in need of it. Your newborn will hopefully sleep through the entire interview. It doesn't take that long(normally).

My EAD was last touched same day as yours, will keep posting in here if there are any updates. The world outside Visa Journey isn't all that interested if a blue dot on a webpage moves to the right side :D

Haven't tried to use Opera but am glad it worked for you with chrome. More traffic on USCIS webpage, I predict :)
