If you are denied your K1 visa and submit a waiver and are still denied what have you done about it? There are certain things that make a person inadmissible to the US that never change. What will you do if you fall into that category?

We've been around, ranging from teaching English in Indonesia to living in Italy, Norway, England...and visiting Germany and Canada. If we were denied (which doesn't apply in our case because we were approved and arrived in the States in January 29, 2011), we would work things out to live in Canada...we've got amazing employment contacts there....we love Canada and might move there in the near future.

I'd petition for my wife instead, to move to OZ. Plenty of work, no crime, beautiful country, the GFC never really hit, very inclusive, etc....Closest to paradise. I would try 'down under'.

Consider it a blessing in disguise if it happened.

Thank you all for your replies. We do have options. I must admit it's kind of scary. I'd hate to think that my fiance would just dump me and look for another if I couldn't immigrate, but if we were both denied(not that we would be, I have no reason to think I wouldn't be approved to move to England) I don't think we'd have a lot of choice.

By the sounds of it many of you have some very specialized degrees. I'm not well versed on immigration as, until I met Paul, I'd never even thought about it. How does one just immigrate to one of these destinations(one that neither of you are already a citizen of)? Don't you have to have some kind of business or investment?

I only wish money were no object for us, but unfortunately it is.

I am a USC who moved to the UK (on a fiancee visa) to be with my (now) husband.

I should point out that we had never applied for a K1 in the first place. Tip of the hat to you K1ers-- you have to go through an awful lot to get that visa, which is why I always try to offer you my most sincere congratulations when you finally receive it! :)

It is a gruelling and exhausting process that can sometimes be very unforgiving. Hearty congratulations are in order for anyone who achieves it. Congratulations to you on your move back to America!

Well, from the standpoint of a European Passport holder, we can live and work anywhere in the EU, no questions asked.

Thats 27 countries to choose from!

Bring your fianceé to Europe, if you are an EU citizen.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand offer work visas that don't need to be sponsored, unlike America.

China, Korea, Japan and other Asian countries have a flourishing English-teaching sector. Very easy to go there, no teaching certification required. I lived in Korea for almost 3 years teaching English!

What I'm trying to say is:

Don't limit yourselves, people!

If I couldn't get a visa to move to the US, I know my husband would have moved up north to Canada in a heartbeat. It is something we are maybe considering once I get dual citizenship. The idea has been brought to the table at least, so it is an option.

Moving to Quebec would be really difficult as I'm not bilingual and that would make it very difficult for me to find meaningful and financially sufficient work. We like Vancouver, as it's temperate, but Toronto would be a lot closer to his mom...

I'm not adverse to moving to Canada. It would just be very difficult to sell the house here and find a place there that would be good for our three dogs.

At this point, I'm a lot more welcome in Canada than he is here :(

Last time I was there, I saw commercials on TV advertising how to legally immigrate...can you imagine how attitudes and laws would have to change in the US to get to a point where we're advertising immigration? I wish...
