If you or anyone has suspicions about a Russian scammer, google "Russian scams" and you'll find a number of sites that expose scammers, including names or aliases used, photos used, and actual postings from the scammers.

These are also the sites to report a scammer to prevent others from getting the scam treatment.

There is no internet access in Russian libraries!

There is. Depending on a library.

In major libraries in big cities there is internet access, but it's never free (there was in my city - I used to live in Voronezh).

The thing is that Plesetsk is a small town in the middle of nowhere, there is probably one library for the whole town.

Anything else was already said in this thread, she's definitely a scammer.

Why doesn't your dear friend do the research himself? Why are you involved? Obviously he has internet access. Maybe your having some fun with us?

The city of Plesetsk is a remote town where they have military and space facilities. I don't think I know of anyone who meet his fiance in this town.

If this is a legit inquiry, common sense is all you need to tell your "dear friend" to move on. You did not mention what MOB site he used to find her. Maybe you can tell us now.

Anyway, enough people have taken the trouble to write. Your dear friend should have all he needs.

I had mentioned a couple times where he met her and it was on match.com

He is a over the road truck driver and rarely has time to get on line except when he comes home. So this is why he doesn't do the research himself. And he's a good life long friend, so

why would I not want to help him.

Not sure why your comments sound like you are writing this as though you are upset. No need to be upset by my asking questions. And yes, many have commented but their

comments were very helpful and no one seemed to have come across as though they were bothered by my post except you.

Don't know what you are referring to with your comment about me having some fun with you. I came here to find some answers for him. To try and prove to him

that this was a scam and maybe him hearing the comments on here, he might believe it that she is only messing with him.

He and I both did some research last weekend when he was back in town regarding Plesetsk, and yes we noticed that it is a military and space facility. For me,

there were a lot of signs that she wasn't really who she said she was, but he was taken back by her beauty and her words that she wrote to him.

I also came to VJ because I am going through the K-1 visa and I have been so grateful to have found this site, it has been awesome in finding answers to my questions. What better

place to go for answers for my friend.

Yes, my oversight on match.com.

You've devoted a lot of time and text writing for your dear friend. I think if he drives a truck, he's a big boy and can handle this with a margin of advice...of which you've gotten plenty.

Our forum has seen tall tales and time wasters before. The Canadian flag has a history here too. Makes some of us edgy.

If you're legit and sincere, you don't need any more than you already have.

I thought I would take it a step further and get of few of those sites listed here. Interestingly enough, there seem to be a number of anti-scam sites that are also set up by MOB agencies. So, those might be taken with a grain of salt.

One last piece of advice that should prove it to your friend. Just google some of the text from her emails to him and most likely they will come up with a match as scammers use the same emails over and over again...much too much effort to write them by hand. If he looks at the emails closely, especially the earlier emails, he should also notice that "her" emails don't really answer the questions he asked. This is because the scammers typically are not even reading the emails in the beginning...it's basically one way communication only from scammer to your friend...sometimes for realism they may answer 1 or 2 things your friend asked, but that's it...it takes too much time for a legitimate response. Only once they have identified your friend as a potential sucker will they start spending more time. Match.com got sued a while back by the way over not policing the Russian scammers that were using their site. One other thing to tell your friend...if this girl was really so out in the middle of nowhere without phone/computer/etc., just how exactly is she paying for her Match.com account? Kind of makes you go hmmmm....doesn't it? Advise your friend to lead the scammer on for some nude photos if he really likes the girls looks cause that's the best he's gonna get. Once he's through with that, have him go find a real woman if he's really interested. It's well worth it if he can think with his big head instead of the little one.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

This is almost exactly my story. I was on match.com too. I searched for women with Russian language. I wanted to meet American women who shared my interest in Russian language and culture. Boy was a I surprised when I was contacted by all these hot women. Of course they were all scams. The scanners are really easy to spot if you use a little common sense.

I did research and learned there are many sincere RUB women who are beautiful, intelligent, well educated and looking for a good man. I ended up on Elena's models and RussianEuro. I wrote to many wonderful women and also a few scammers (remember you cannot be scammed if you don't send money). It took me about 9 months to find my fiance on RussianEuro. There was an immediate connection with her. Within a month of talking (emails, chats, video calls) we made plans to meet and see if the feelings were "real". There was no talk of love or marriage. We met in person and I knew she was the one. Then we talked about a second meeting. Then we talked about marriage and visa.

Sorry I'm rambling. I miss being with her so much and the NOA-2 is taking so long. :crying:

Another vote for scam for all the reasons given. My future MIL lives in a small town in Ukraine. She has a cellphone, computer and Internet access. RUB women are very proud. I can't imagine a real woman would tell a stranger she loves him and a real woman would not ask a stranger for money. I hope your friend listens and comes here for advice on how to meet a good RUB woman. He will not be disappointed if he finds one. He should also be realistic. It costs about $10,000 minimum for travel, visa and wedding.

Nice! Yeah I honestly had planned to take things nice and slow. It didn't end up working out that way though. We also had an immediate connection and wanted to meet ASAP to see if it was the same face to face as it was over the phone. Nothing would be worse than spending months and months communicating only to find out you had wasted your time. I had not plans for marriage or anything like that. It was only about 6 weeks after we found each other that I was on my way over...we were engaged 5 days later and married about a month after that! Originally we had planned to do DCF (even had an interview scheduled for it), but they changed the law on DCF that month and we ended up having to go K3 instead. It's been a whirlwind but it's been fantastic. I never thought I'd have such a fantastic wife or be so happy. I must give thanks to those original scammers that started the ball rolling. ;)

I am sorry you feel that way about Canada and whether you doubt my intentions with this post. I'm not here to prove to you otherwise. I simply asked for advice.

As far as my friend being able to handle things from the advice he has gotten here, I am sure he will make the right decision for him. I have no problem devoting time

and writing for a friend, that is what friends do for one another.

I can not understand why you are so defensive over my posting and now to attack Canada simply because I have that and the u.s. flag as my profile picture.

And it's not up to you to decide whether or not I have all the advice I need. I appreciate all those that have given their opinions.

God Bless

Call it a gut feeling. "Me thinks thou does protest too much."

You're not directly involved with matters pertaining to RUB. You're an unknown poster with a "dear friend." Don't wear out your welcome.

Some people like the attention and have some grandiosity going on. The people with long winded posts as a third party entity are suspect for me.

As for Canada, it's easy for me to dislike the country. As a Vietnam veteran, I watched draft dodgers and out and out deserters given shelter by Canada. Not my favorite country. Deal with it.

If you look at the begining of this thread you will see that memebers of the RUB forum suggested that the thread be moved here from another forum. Deal with it.

I don't see where a moderator posted about a move...but whatever. I see somebody from Malaysia suggested moving it...another outsider. Nobody from RUB suggested anything. Get your facts straight.
