CRBA application questions

Hi,

My wife will be applying for our sons crba and passport in January at the embassy in Manila. I am looking at the checklist and have a couple questions for anyone that has gone through this process.

1) Since I will not be able to attend the crba interview the checklist says I need to send notarized copies of my passport. I am having difficulty getting copies of my passport notarized. Anyone know how to do this?

2) I have heard that they typically ask for dna testing even for married couples. Anyone able to get crba without having to do dna test? Any ideas what proof they might look for to avoid dna test?

Any other tips or information on crba process is much appreciated.

Thanks.

hello there, i applied for my son's CRba and this guide will help you, just follow the instructions and you will be fine you will never know you need to take a DNA test for your child until the time of your interview , the CO will tell you DNA is only applicable if they are not satisfied with the documents which you submit. And yeah your wife can apply CRBA without your presence. . Good luck

I would say they don't "typically ask for DNA" unless your lacking in documentation / evidence or in some cases out of wedlock childen. I really had no problem with the process at USEM, but then I crossed all my T's and dotted all my I's! My tip for you is documentation, and meeting all the requirements for both you, US citizen and the child.

Feel free to read my link in my Sig, it may help but it's not the gospel
