I checked USCIS website two weeks ago and it says that we will have to attend to our AOS interview on Jan. 4th...but I'm concerned because I haven't gotten anything in the mail. Would it be wise calling USCIS to find out what's going on?

Of course you should call USCIS. I would go as far as make an inforpass appointment just in case.

With the holidays coming up, January 4 is right around the corner.

Yes you should call to find out where the letter is for your own peace of mind. Hopefully you'll receive it in the mail but regardless you should be there no matter what on Jan 4th. Good luck with your interview.
