Here's a teenage gal from Morroco who once dated the Prime Minister of Italy. She's not overly conservative and she looks cool. She even has a cool Arab name; Karima El Mahroug

That poor little Arab girl is just trying to send a message to other Muslim girls that they need not be so conservative. :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Muslim consumers are worth 70 billion dollars in this economy. We are better educated than most Americans, have lots of disposable income, and operate in some unexpectedly high places. If these companies think we can be marginalized, they're not doing their due diligence. We are far more politically savvy than most believe us to be.

Some are smarter than others. I pretty much live at Best Buy lol.

Does that mean that most companies have to support muslim propoganda?

Trying to learn about Islam by watching this show is like trying to learn about Russians by watching Russian Dolls.

But maybe that's the whole point. We're not really that different, are we?

The show - I don't watch it yet-either is politically correctness toward Muslim people there or they are just made it to create a controversy. Either way, it's old school thing. I was born as a Muslim and I don't need politically correctness to get legitimize my existence. Does TLC aired this show like Toddlers and Tiaras as well? I have concern why they need to have these shows on TV.

That's because your country is 88% Muslim. Of course you don't have the same issues that this country has with Islam. However, you will soon enough find out when you get here.

I am an half Chinese, the minority people in my country, for the information. I know how hard the government TRIED to do political correctness toward to Chinese people after the fall of Soeharto regime. Government give quota to Chinese people in order to get engage to political things since new era regime limited Chinese's people right for it.

My point is, if some certain race just get a quota based to political correctness without have any experience in politics, do you know how the country can be in the future? I don't want get a chance because the government think has to paid a crime from the past but I want get a chance because I deserved it.

And even I was born as Muslim, another Muslims don't care as long as you looked like a Chinese and they will get after you. I am living proof of it. The bitterness that I had to get in my life. This is the link that can gives you insight what I've been through almost the rest of my life.

I am not sure how your point relates to the OP, exactly. The dynamics of our society are going to be different than the dynamics of your society, and the article has nothing to do with being hired to do a job. Yes, we have laws against discriminating against people, which you can see here: My link. I am just not sure what your point is in relation to the article.

The point of the show is to present a side of Muslims in American society that many people don't want to acknowledge - their daily lives as normal, law-abiding citizens. The U.S. media tends to want to demonize Muslims as being terrorists, and this is an attempt by The Learning Channel to dispel some of the myths that 'all Muslims are Terrorists out to kill you or undermine the laws of this society.'

I had to mention it because you were talking about 88 % are Muslims in my country. It seems like I would not get in trouble because I am a Muslim. Yes, there is nothing to do with a job, of course, I was just giving an example how political correctness can be so dangerous. I already have stressed out about political correctness on my first post related to the thread.

Ah, well, I don't think you have to worry too much about being Chinese here, as we have such a diverse society. In San Francisco, there are 112 different languages spoken. I don't know where you will be living, but I think you won't feel the kind of discrimination you have felt in your country, although there are always some people who just want to be jerks. People here respect those who work hard, so you should be good to go!

Yeah, that was I thought. My fiance told me they would never knew if I'm Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai or Japanese and I don't runaway from my country just because the thing happened to me. It just because I found an American to fall in love with. Thank you for make me feel better!good.gif
