I'm a redneck in a lot of ways, including my upbringing but I'm not big on the superstition thing and that's where god comes in. I don't believe in vampires, werewolves, banshee's, leprechauns, and the rest of that lot.

Same with new laws. I'm not big into a lot of laws being made and it's probably the reason Iv'e been in out of jail so much in my younger years, but I don't go for these peeps that jabber on the cell phone and then move right over into another lane without even looking for the fact they are so deep into their conversation. That's about the time I want to run them off the road, drag them out of their vehicle via their window and beat the holy fck out of them. I can't afford anymore assault charges so that's out of the picture....but the feeling is still there.

I sure hope that applies to the just plain dumb arses that have no excuse for their bad driving, other than they are stuck on stupid.

I see no need to shoot kids in the river or or any other place. I'm a soften when it comes to children (with limits of course), period.

I hold the parents responsible.

I'm afraid you are breaking ranks with the true conservatives on VJ

If you need back up anytime, you had better start sounding like them quickly

You are with us or against us is what they say

Anyway, back to the cell phone thing

I reckon conservatives are only liberal and 'government get off my back' until someone slams into them..

At that point they call for laws to stop it - or as the previous poster says, a true conservative would blind them for life with a good face kicking on the ground

Real conservatives and liberterians do not seek answers and laws from the government to solve all of lifes issues, oh no, that's what liberals do. Liberals feel government should create a law to address every issue that pops up.

Yeah they do run to the government

They don't say - oh get rid of airport security, we will choose the airline that has the least losses from terrorism

Don't test milk, we will risk it, and not buy from that farmer again if one of our kids dies

No, they ask the government to do the job

There are a million other instances where you NEED the government for the very essentials of life

Good government is the essential of a civilized society and setting one up was the first thing the founding fathers did

...and they wrote a constitution and passed laws which bound you to do XYZ and forbade you to do ABC

Remember, no government - no pay for the marines !

We would be just fine if the government stayed small and ONLY did the 18-19 things as outlined in Article I.

Yeah, the founding fathers wanted and designed a good, small government that was very limited in its scope and duties... they wanted governmet to stay out of our lives and for us, as a free people to be left to our own devices. But most people fear real freedom and want the nany state to be there to save them.

You'd be surprised how little government you really need in your life, those that come from the school of 'I need government to hand me a band aid' each time I have an 'ouch' in life would disagree.

Not necessarily. A conservative doesn't need a government representative to respond to the scene of a car accident. They can take care of it through private insurance.

So what did the founding father's say about airport security or vehicle emissions ?

What do conservatives do when a smokey truck gives their kid asthma - shoot the driver ?

The founding fathers didn't set up border security but the government did

Were they wrong to do so ? Creeping government interfering again ?

Our lives are all immeasurably better because of government. I think good government is great.

It educates the kids and gives us a start in life

Compare literacy in 1776 with what it is now - that's down to government education

Of course conservatives cant be educated because they are basically feral, grumpy, and violent and racist - but that's not the government's fault

During Barry's second term , conservatives will be taken to retraining camps in Massachusetts to complete their education and give them a feel for modern day living, and I will volunteer as an instructor

I'm sure people who were injured or killed by distracted drivers who were yakking on their phones are enjoying their freedom quite a lot these days

Exactly.

I think this thread tell us all we need to know about conservatives

They are all about "ME" "ME" "ME" --- but they are too blind to see that THEY suffer from the freedoms they would grant to people who would kill them and their families by texting / emissions/pollution etc etc etc

It takes a bit of imagination to see that freedom from the fear of being killed by a texter, being left alive to pursue happiness, means a small restriction on ALL our freedoms to do bad things - and that trade off is more than worth it

The same logic explains the gun debate - they are identical and the conservatives have no idea about how to be ultimately selfish - to have the benefit come back at you - because its a two step thought process, and they are still toddlers who can only just do one step

you're comparing cell phones to the "gun debate?"

The second amendment is there to protect the people from the government in case you didn't realize that.... Cell phones have nothing to do with that and trying to play the game of "if normal citizens didn't have guns..." is just aburd.Yeah, take away the guns from the average citizen, let the criminals continue to reign surpreme...

I believe in all that #######, and more. I also believe that everything has a spirit and is alive. I work on mechanical stuff all day long, and every contraption has a personality. Has else can you explain when some complicated piece of ####### throws a temper tantrum until I get there, and then it starts working fine the minute I get there, and generally stays working fine until long after I leave.

How silly to think you are going to take on the US Military with your Glock. They have more funding than all the rest of the world put together....and if they are in armed revolt against the US government, then they sure don't need your pea shooter in order to win

It isn't 1776 you know. Now get that tri-corn hat off and that straw out of your mouth corner and start acting like its almost 2012

The debate is the same as the gun debate in that the " ME " people are up against 'we the people' as a whole

The "ME" people have always been crushed - starting with the slavers and gradually moving on

Doesn't stop them coming back for another whuppin' so bring it !

Conservatives can read by the time they get to kindergarten.

Why? Because their parents (a mom AND a dad) taught them to. They don't need the government to handle basic things like ABCs and lunch.
