I was going to go to a Civil Surgeon listed on the USCIS website, but when I called to reschedule my appt.,the receptionist gave me the name of another Dr in the same office and told me that she could preform the medical exam aswell..She's not listed on the website. This turned me off so I am looking for another one.Is it even ok for a Dr not listed to do it ??

Your suspicions are founded. Only doctors listed can sign the form. That's not to say that the real civil surgeon won't sign it at the end, but I would certainly insist that you see the particular doctor listed.

Ok I will makes sure that he is the one who will be preforming the exam. Thanks

I'll keep him in mind. The Dr I was going to see only charges $120

I can recommend:

Dr. Anthony D Blau, Green Card Medical Exams

305 Broadway, 4th Floor, Room 444, New York, NY 10007

(212) 766-4433

I had my medical today and it was very straight forward. Cost is $200 including blood testing for syphilis; tuberculosis skin test (PPD); and completion of I-693 form. Plus the give you a copy for your records.

I second the Dr. Blau recommendation. Also, as a Canadian, he had no problem reading my vaccination record and honoring it. I ended up only needing a tetanus booster.

Thanks ! I always had a reaction to the ppd test.I was told to never do it again and just have x-rays.Do I just bring a copy of my last ppd test reading along with the x ray results? i took the test in April 2010.Since I wont need a ppd test, will this exam cost me less than $200 ?

Chest xray is $60. Not sure if they offer a discount is you don't take the PPD test. I would give their office a call, they were very helpful when I was calling around.
