Westerners come to the ME hawking jeans, t-shirts and many other goods every day. It's called "commerce". I don't see many of them dressing in the local style.

Have you not seen most westerner cover up their body when they are in muslim country to follow with local traditions.... come on.

Nope. Unless they're in the small, remote villages of countries that don't legislate covering, I don't see much covering up going on. Even I don't dress traditionally overseas unless I'm attending masjid. In most Muslim countries, there are plenty of native women who dress like westerners.

Nice try but total fail with that post. It has nothing to do with hate, and all to do with conforming to the country you choose to live in. You either conform, or you go to where your the majority and/or don't have to conform.

Nobody is forcing Muslims to immigrate by the millions to Western countries. It's all on them.

Excellent point. good.gif. We have an old proverb in Indonesia, "wherever ground is stood on, the sky is hold high". It means, "wherever we live, we must observe the local custom".

We have something similar to that. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Not all native born Americans observe the same customs, so that demand doesn't hold up.

Agreed. The Samoans in Anchorage have been a problem for awhile now. They would rather gang bang then work.

I am not a fan of Angelina Jolie. But she did adopted local custom to respect people there. Many western women who worked so hard to help victims of tsunami in Aceh in 2004- the special region in Indonesia that applied shariah law- wearing traditional clothing like hijab even though they were there as a part of humanitarian mission.

Another part, for the information, according to Wikipedia, although it is not an Islamic state, Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation, with 86.1% of Indonesians being Muslim according to the 2000 census and still now. So I agreed the part of your statement that many muslim women dressing like westeners do. Not big deal here.

Contrary to the info you get here, it's not a big deal in a lot of Muslim countries. It's estimated that most Muslim women don't cover in the traditional manner all the time. I know lots of them who don't, including myself.

I think local customs should be observed, within reason. If you think that these customs are fundamentally at odds with your religion or culture, then maybe you should take that into account when deciding to move somewhere.

Then, there should be no complaint about western customs and religions not being accommodated in Saudi, no?

Unless, they violate basic human rights, then we as human beings I believe have an obligation to do something about it.....

I don't know if I was wrong or not, but nukes in Muslim countries are always presented as a threat to Israel, so, the segue makes perfect sense.

Let me help you: There are no thermonuclear weapons in any Muslim countries. You stated that there were. That was incorrect... The eventual procurement of these weapons is presented as a threat to Israel.

The history of payback is a b!tch . . .

No doubt.. as has been seen since 1967... Don't expect the rest of the world to learn this lesson any more than you.

There was no 9/11 victory dancing in the streets. That was a fabrication.

This is as accurate of statement as anything else you have posted I have read lately..

This is worse than talking out the side of your face or making stuff up.. These are telling lies with free abandon. How can anyone take anything you say seriously?
