My fiancée just arrived in the US. We went to the courthouse and applied for our marriage license where the clerk indicated we could declare ourselves married. I chose to defer doing this until I could do some research.

Living in Montana, winters are a tough time to have a wedding ceremony. We would like to have our ceremony in the Summer(July/August), when the weather is ideal. Also, we have a few teachers in our family and this is the time they will be free and without vacation restrictions.

We want to get started on the Adjustment ASAP....will simply declaring we're married be enough to file our AOS? I suppose we could have a photographer come take our photos as we sign the documents and have those as wedding photos

TIA

Married is married as long as its legal you would have no problem filing the AOS. You dont need photos just a marrige licence. Keep in mind it will be months ( 6? ) before you attend a meeting with USCIS. Marry & begin to work on co mingling things to show you are a couple.

You could have a ceremony at any time but it wont affect the outcome of the meeting.
