I believe moderate Muslims are among us the same way moderate Jews and Christians are among us. Any and all of them are unfaithful to their faith, probably because they don't take it seriously. Many have been born into it and continue to go to church or temple or mosque in order not to upset their parents and older family members, but none of them can be truthfully called Muslims, Jews, or Christians.

Look at Republican front runner Ging-Rich. He is a self-proclaimed Christian, but he is also an adulterer who banged his mistress while the wife was sick as a puppy. His is a liar, corrupt as it gets, and was thrown out of office by Republicans and Democrats alike for ethics violations so severe that he had simply become a liability even for his own supporters.

The same way Ging-Rich is not a real Christian as he spits into the face of Christian values with alarming frequency, a Muslim who is buddy with a Jew or a Jew who is buddy with a Muslim are not taking their religion seriously. Their religion requires them to hate each other, see one another as Goy and Infidels, among other things. Hence, moderation of religion, any religion, the absence of blind obedience to the written word, maybe a first step to a world where people use their creator-given intelligence. I hope moderates in any faith will be an intermediate step to a world where nobody takes this humbug seriously anymore.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Mass murderers in Christian countries are denied by Christians, as in the case of the Anders Behring Breivik in 2011, Matthew Murray in 2007, for example. Hitler wasn't a Christian nor was Timothy McVeigh. According to Christians, no mass murderer, not even the evil Popes, is ever a Christian, no matter what they profess for themselves. If they're not Christians, and they're not Muslims, so, they must be atheists.

I did not point the finger at Muslims, I simply said you don't see Atheist strapping bombs to their bodies and killing innocents in the name of atheism. I took umbrage to the implication that atheist are the extremists. They are not. Evil people kill because they are evil. They sometimes use religion to instigate hate and fear, sometimes they do not. Almost never do they (to quote one person here) kill in the name of atheism.

How about killing in the name of a broader political ideology that claims atheism as one of its tenets?

Sure if you need that crutch go ahead... Would that cut religion down from say 10000 times more to only a factor of say 1000 or so? I would suspect it is still much more but I'll keep the numbers to something that most reasonable people would not argue.
