I'm planning to visit Lagos, Nigeria in February 2012, for about 7 days. I have to enclose a copy of a bank statement to prove I have enough funds to care for myself while I'm there with my visa application. Does anyone know what amount would be sufficient? I'm staying with friends/family so I don't need hotel accommodations. Also, what exactly does a letter of invitation have to contain other than the name, address, of host, and that they are simply inviting me to visit them? Nigerian Embassy in Washington, DC is not that helpful.....they're not the nicest people I've dealt with regarding my plans. They're very short with me and sound as if I'm bothering them. Thanks in advance for your assistance, I appreciate it.

You posted in the UK Forum, hopefully a Mod will move it.

Hello! The invitation letter just needs to be from whomever is sponsoring you. They need to to state what address you'll be staying at, their relationship to you (friend, family, whatever) how long you'll be there, who'll be responsible for you financially and when you will return. Also, you'll need a copy of the person that is sending the invitation letter's passport data page. I just recently sent for my Nigerian Visa and was approved. I sent a bank statement that showed $1800.00 in the bank. You will need to send a copy of your itenerary and a passport photo plus your original passport.

Here's all you'll need:

Passport

Passport photo

Copy of passport data page from sponsor

Invitation Letter

Flight Itenerary

Copy of bank statement

Self addressed stamped envelope from USPS, DHL, FEDEX or UPS

Good Luck! I'll be going to Nigeria again Jan 30th
