  1. 1. Why not fill out timeline?

    • Lazy
    • I do not know how
    • I do not care about others
    • I do not care to share my dates
    • I feel it is an invasion of privacy
    • I do not care about having data for others to have estimates
    • I fill it out!

i bark at people to update their timelines, and get snippy replies sometimes. hmph. i feel like it is common courtesy to keep it accurate, because im sure that the majority of people here do check the timeline section, but far fewer seem to keep the timeline updated.

unrelated question: why cant i get my timeline to show that AP was approved? that little damn box wont turn blue! hmph.

pet peeve: when the information in the timelines is obviously incorrect. (ex. future dates). hmph.

this poll has made me feel less alone. hmph.

I fill mine out but when it comes to citizenship part I wont be filling it out. Mainly because for some reason the location I will be filing at, Nebraska Service Center is not listed only the other two are listed on there.

I have found the projected processing times based on others timelines to be fairly accurate! its a good help and better than checking the USCIS site and staring a blue dot that only moves once every 5 months or so.

Timeline

Now please allow me to share what I do with timelines.

My husband is from Egypt. So these timelines, especially in the Middle East, are very important to me.

I look at how many people this year applied for I-130.

I look at how long it took each one to get NOA2

I look at how long they took at NVC

I look at how long it took to get an interview date

I look at how long they were in AP

I look at how long the took to come to USA after Visa was issued.

All these dates are important for us so we can see the average during the last year or 6 months to try and predict when our time will come. It helps calm my nerves and it gives me comfort. It helps others to know HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT TO get thru USCIS, NVC, Get an interview date and GET OUT OF AP.

If we did not have these timelines we would be sitting at home worrying more about when will I get the email.

So, I thank everyone for filling in their timelines accurately.

The things you need to fill in so I can have the data is

date 130 sent

date 130 received

date 130 approved

date nvc received

date nvc completed

date of interview

date visa received

Thank you again. And a special thank you if you care about decreasing the anxiety of others going thru this process after you and that is why you update your timeline.

Here is an example of what I look at in the Egypt Portal to gather data: The more timelines completed then the more accurate the prediction. I also noted that VJ probably represents about 2% of all applications received by the embassy. So, all these timelines help alot.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?op6=All&op7=Egypt&dfile=No&op1=&op2=&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C10%2C11%2C13%2C14%2C15%2C16%2C17%2C18%2C20%2C21%2C22%2C25%2C26%2C27%2C28&cfl=

AMEN! I really wish I could update mine to an NOA2! :) Following the progress of others and using their timelines to project when I may see progress is all that is keeping me sane!

Thank you all for the great replys. I just think if people come onto a website to ask questions and gather information to help themselves then why withhold information to help others? I am a scratch my back and I will scratch your type of person.

I am hoping my thread will be read by a few people who do not want to fill out the timeline and they realize the timelines is where we get the data from. I just think maybe they do not realize where alot of information comes from.

And of course all the awesome VJ people and their experiences.

And thank you Pushbrk!

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between November 22, 2011 and December 2, 2011*. If this date range has passed or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition.

the way that VJ can give you an estimated time frame for adjudication is based on updated timelines. that date has been generated from data pulled from hundreds of members who have put their information into their timeline. the estimates drive the statistics. if no one bothered to keep them up to date, there would not be valid statistical information.

so even if you are unconvinced, keep filling in! the system works!

if you feel like your i-129f is taking longer than it should, give USCIS a call. current processing time for i-129f's is 5 months.

looking at others who filed at CSC around the time you did, looks like you might be a bit later than others, but you are not the only one.

look though the data. see what it tells you. that is precisely the value of the timelines.

i think you will hear something very soon!

By the time your finished with your visa journey from the country of origin there is a lot of information on the timeline as to how much time it took on each step and when everything was finalized and when you entered the country etc...

then there are the AOS/EAD dates you also plug in so if you go to someones timeline that has done a lot then you will see the dates of each phase of their journey and see the dates and how much time it took..

It's not all about the noa2 its about the entire process
