  1. 1. Why not fill out timeline?

    • Lazy
    • I do not know how
    • I do not care about others
    • I do not care to share my dates
    • I feel it is an invasion of privacy
    • I do not care about having data for others to have estimates
    • I fill it out!

Now please allow me to share what I do with timelines.

My husband is from Egypt. So these timelines, especially in the Middle East, are very important to me.

I look at how many people this year applied for I-130.

I look at how long it took each one to get NOA2

I look at how long they took at NVC

I look at how long it took to get an interview date

I look at how long they were in AP

I look at how long the took to come to USA after Visa was issued.

All these dates are important for us so we can see the average during the last year or 6 months to try and predict when our time will come. It helps calm my nerves and it gives me comfort. It helps others to know HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT TO get thru USCIS, NVC, Get an interview date and GET OUT OF AP.

If we did not have these timelines we would be sitting at home worrying more about when will I get the email.

So, I thank everyone for filling in their timelines accurately.

The things you need to fill in so I can have the data is

date 130 sent

date 130 received

date 130 approved

date nvc received

date nvc completed

date of interview

date visa received

Thank you again. And a special thank you if you care about decreasing the anxiety of others going thru this process after you and that is why you update your timeline.

Here is an example of what I look at in the Egypt Portal to gather data: The more timelines completed then the more accurate the prediction. I also noted that VJ probably represents about 2% of all applications received by the embassy. So, all these timelines help alot.

Well said... I too look at timelines especially for those on AP for ISLAMABAD... it does mean a lot to me as we endure this painful part of our personal visa process. Not that it would affect our own visa but at least give me a sense that its not totally unknown and those that have similar situations at least I could see that there is an end in sight.

I cannot imagine what you are going through. I have read alot of your posts and I feel your pain. I pray AP ends for him soon. I seen a thread that was about husbands in AP with names of abdel and their AP is VERY long. I am not sure what your husbands name is, I just hope your AP ends this week as an early Christmas present.

I agree with you 110%, however I must point out something about the poll. The questions sound a little off-putting. "Lazy" is a negative label, not a reason. "I do not care about others," for example, sounds like character judgment and not a legit reason why anyone wouldn't fill out their timelines. I think the question missing is: "Timelines are unique to each case, therefore I believe it wouldn't help anyone," or something like that would narrow it down to specifics.

I agree with you. I really do not believe that people who do not fill out their timeline would actually respond to my post. But, I am sorry if I offended people with my sour sense of humor.

Sure, you could have. good.gif You would have written "filed an I-130" instead of "applied for an I-130". The I-130 is a petition for alien relative. Filing it applies for nothing. Otherwise, good explanation of the benefit to others from keeping a timeline up to date.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

There's no reason to apologize. The poll is not offensive at all. All I meant to say is the questions are subjective and somewhat accusatory. They do have a witty tone to it, so your sense of humor is reflected... that's always good! Plus, I appreciate your attention and hardwork on this issue. I congratulate you for keeping everyone abreast with the embassy's information.

I understand where you're coming from. I filled out my timeline religiously but I really dunno why I haven't done a signature yet

Signatures are not trackable as 'data' here, unless a human collects it.

A timeline in the timeline area, OTOH, is something useful for all. ALL

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

You did miss one - a check box for those of us who are researching and trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible but not ready to petition yet.

This is where I am right now and I know I have seen others too.
