Why are more Beneficiaries rather than Petitioners asking questions

Maybe it is just my imagination, but it seems to me that more beneficiaries are coming here asking questions on what to do rather the the petitioners who are ultimately responsible for filing the paperwork. Isn't this a bit backwards? Can some one shed some light on this?

I think there is no 'one answer' on this.

I have read what others have posted here, and it makes sense to me.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Honestly, I think that has nothing to do with this. My husband is the USC, and he took one look at the forms and said he couldn't do it. I was the one asking questions here on VJ, reading the guidelines, following up with our case, etc. And I'm from Nicaragua, yeah a third-world country, a poor country, I guess you wouldn't expect a Nicaraguan to even speak English. It comes down to each person's ability to comprehend the instructions, fill out whatever is needed, and gather the paperwork that needs to be filed.

Good question, I suggest its because the beneficiaries have more time on there hands and/or they are tired of waiting, or maybe the petitioners are dragging there feet on the process, I know i got more than one pep talk to move a little faster from Nida.

Not really. I think you will find that the beneficiaries asking questions trend from different regions. You will see almost NO beneficiaries asking questions in the RUB forum for example. When was the last time you saw a post from a Russian or Ukrainian woman beneficiary? On the other hand there are countless questions from Philippine and pacific rim women beneficiaries. Trying to say this is not cultural would be silly I think. You also see few benficiaries from Viet nam, Cambodia, etc. There seem to be quite a few from MENA countries but nothing to match Pinays

RUB women are perfectly happy with saying "you handle that, it is your country, you do it" and sit back. They will sign where needed when told when and where and show up for the interviews and bring their fingers for the fingerprints. On the other hand, RUB women tend to frequent Russian languge immigration sites, speak with their fellow RUB beneficiaries and bring their question to their US citizen petitioner.

The Pnay will jump right in here at VJ and ask "what should my boyfriend be doing?" while the RUB woman calls her fiancee and says "should you be doing this?" IF they do anything, I do not think they ask about it all that much and Alla never did and has not since.

Contrast that to the high drama we see on other forums from other regions.

I cannot speak for other cultures, just my impression.

I WISH my fiance would do more work with it (he's the beneficiary). I'm directing every step on my side and his. I don't mind, those forms can be confusing for someone who speaks English as a second language.

But I do notice a lot of beneficiaries posting to ask questions. Though, I share this account with him. And I know some people do the same thing. idk. Maybe they feel more inclined to ask questions because they're the one who is moving and not the petitioner? Who knows.

I think women tend to be more detail-oriented and more organised than men are... I would assume that a lot of beneficiaries are women and so they therefore take the reins with the paperwork lol. Women tend to be more worrisome and obsessive as well

Lots of stereotypical statements and generalisations above but I'm just answering a question which is not that serious

The RUB subforum wasn't always the sausage fest that it is now.

Ebb and flow.

Glad we could fix that.

Then the real reason must be that RUB women choose US men that can fill out a 2 page form with personal information all by themselves.

For some reason, my life the next many years is based on a case file and immigration papers. I do not trust anybody to handle that information without me knowing exactly what's going on, and why and which papers I put my signature on. I'd be pretty upset if someone else screwed up my changes of being with my husband. And my husband, as precious as he is to me, is the "just show me where to sign" kinda guy.

My US citizen husband hates paperwork. He can do it just fine but is much happier when someone else takes over those annoying little details so he can concentrate on the 'bigger picture'. (Tax time is not a happy time in this household, hehehe). I like details and I like information and I know I handle them well. Joe was all for hiring a lawyer to do the paperwork and I said, 'no way', I can do this. So I did. I just told him what he needed to do/get and where to sign. So, he did :D .

I am also very detailed orientated!

Alex sat on the paperwork for five months. I asked him why he hadn't sent out the forms yet and he eventually confessed that he was so terrified of making a mistake that he'd been too scared to even look at it. So we filled them out together when I visited later that year. :) I don't think filling out a form is a criteria as to what makes a man, but honesty certainly is!

I'm good at American bureaucracy... I can fill out forms and submit the proper checks and documentation and send them via USPS.

My husband is good at the Peruvian bureaucracy... standing in long lines, going from window to window and having them tell you that you needed to go somewhere else, paying off security guards

I did all the paperwork for my ex's CR1 visa AND the ROC. He's terrible with bureaucracy of any sort, and assumes that because I'm the American I'm somehow innately able to fill out all these forms. We're both applying for graduate school right now and even though we're not still together, I'm helping him navigate the process (we both have UK degrees that need evaluation). Next year is naturalization and I bet I'll be helping on that too.wacko.gif

I guess there ARE downsides to staying BFFs with your ex!laughing.gif
