Biometrics question (Humor)

That's all very well, but if you've not been on here for years and don't know to look for it then you'll never know unless you just find it by pure luck. Perhaps it should be added as a side-note on one of the guides even if it's not technically recommended that you do it, along with a few other things.

What I meant is that it is talked about often and isn't something brand new. If people browse all the posts on a process before they start that step, they pick up tips, good ideas, and things that went wrong to build their understanding. If they come on, ask a question, then go away, they might miss a trick or two. People use VJ both ways.

Once you get your greencard, if you would browse the Removing Conditions forum, you would know what to be saving during the next two years so you've got a load of documentation. Or you would learn what kind of things you will need and won't be one of those people who say "we never filed joint taxes, or got a bank account together, or put my name on a lease or bills, or the car insurance..."

There's a separate forum for site suggestions. Outline to Capt. Ewok what you have in mind and maybe it can be added to the guides.

That's exactly what they mean - and it is not very rare to be turned away. Did a walk in too 3 weeks ahead of a scheduled date. Successful ;-)

Question: Would a walk-in accelerate issuance of EAD?? If yes, would you say how far ahead of appointment is advisable?

This was exactly what happened to me last friday when i went for my scheduled biometrics. It was UNSUCCESSFUL cuz they couldn't get my finger prints :( What can i do if i have a crappy fingers!? They are dry and cracked and look like an old lady fingers :P Last saturday, i received another biometrics appointment. This bothers me cuz what if the same result will be obtained?? :help:

It's probably just the cold weather. Try some moisturizer. You've obviously given a good set of fingerprints before during your visa application and POE.

As far as I can tell, an early walk-in only seems to help if the original appointment was set a long time after the AOS/EAD/AP submission date. Most people get an appointment date that is approximately one month after their submission date. They still seem to end up having to wait at least 60 days after their submission date for their EAD, even if they did an early walk-in. For those whose appointment was set a lot later (say 2 months after their submission date), an early walk-in MAY help speed things up. But not always.

VJ is the unbeatable source of visa and immigration process, all you have to do is research or ask, not only the pure luck. And the best thing here is most of the people will not make fun of your situations or your questions.

The reasons for unsuccessful Biometrics that I have read are:

- walk-in ahead of the appointment date and got denied

- Sweaty Palm

- Skin Allergy

- Skin Disease

- Quality of the print

Jingo. Who told you you could go in before Nov 14th, or how did you know they'd let you in?

No one. I heard about it on VJ and thought I'd give it a go. It worked, but I guess it made no difference to actual progress on their side.

well i have seen where someone posted that because they had sweaty palms they failed the bio test, meaning their fingerprints could not get captured

Yep I read a similar post about that too. The poster's fingertips were sweaty and they couldn't pass the bio test, and it was unsuccessful on more than one attempt.

Yes it can. Doesn't always though.

Thanks for all the answers.

My wife is just about ready to strangle anyone showing at the door (which includes me if I say the wrong thing :innocent: ). I mean she's literally bore to death. Can't wait until the EAD is in her hands, but I see from the answers it would likely be March when that happens....

LOL - we are experts on rejected fingerprints/unsuccessful bio appointments.

After the second rejection you are automatically triggered for interview and you will get an interview letter. A couple of days before the appointment go to the local police station and pay the 2-3 dollars they charge to print out your criminal record.

Bring the original printout of your police record to the interview.

If you dont bring it then at the interview they tell you to go get it and bring it back, they add it to the file, then approve you (assuming the rest of the file is OK)

Thats the way it was in 2008 anyway.

You could also ask for ink prints. New Orleans office was prepared for that and made the woman in front of me do it because she claimed she had a problem with other peoples germs and didn't want to touch the scanner glass...

All done ;-)
