OK..so here's the story goes...after almost 6 months of waiting we got an RFE :(about his divorce decrees.....he was married twice but we only sent one divorce decree the latest one...now they want us to send the first divorce decree..that's fine.. so we know it was needed..but my concern is this: on the notice it said that they need the two decrees..the very first one and the second one...we were kind of confuse because we already sent the second one..what does it mean? on his I-129F form we put his ex-wife's maiden name and on the decree it was her married name..what are we going to do now? would this mean a denial in the end?:unsure:Please help us........

It means send them BOTH. ALWAYS do exactly what is asked for. You have already decided NOT to do what was asked for once, the next time they will deny you.

The name is not an issue. Send what they ask for.

I am having a hard time understanding why, if the petitioner was divorced twice, only one divorce decree was submitted? :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

If it asks for both, then yes. Why not? They are specifically asking something of you in an RFE and all he needs to do is make another copy and send it in again with the first one to satisfy their request. No biggie.

That's what I did, and they also asked me for both. I figured I couldn't have been married if I wasn't divorced but I guess we are not on the same page with them. They probably see so much that would curl our ears if we heard the stories from them.

yeah..that's why we didn't bother sending them the very first decree since he cannot re-marry without getting divorced first..but well..it's their SOP so we just need to comply....

Well.... actually you can get married without getting divorced here in the States... just wouldn't be legal. Which is why they want to see ALL of the divorce decrees.
