Most important thing is to apply for US citizenship that:

Have been living in marital union with the citizen spouse for the three years immediately preceding the date of examination on the application, and your spouse has been a United States citizen for the duration of that three year period.

Since you mentioned that things were not good between you both and then divorced, then that is a red flag.

It is not a red flag, the OP can apply based on 5 years of LPR status.

Thanks friends for taking time to reply my post. Actually i am going to file for N400 on 5 years LPR base. Yes we got divorced and did not talk to each other for 3 years. My concern is is she gonna be able to hurt my procedure for N400? second question was can she cause any trouble for me when i try to reenter to USA? i have been out of country for business and every time i reenter they take me to in their back office and after rechecking documents they let me go.

Have to meet the residency requirements either for the 3 or 5 year, you are definitely 5 year. Don't know why you have been stopped, wife and stepdaughter were with a green card. But note the country, Colombia. Since they have their US passport, they don't do that anymore. One thing that enters my mind, these guys working at airport security don't have anything better to do with their time, except make life difficult for the rest of us.

Did you remarry? In particular a gal from your home country. That sure would raise a red flag.

Not sure if you gave all the details. How long were you married. How long have you been in this country? How long it has been since you were divorced? Did you commit any crime or did your wife file any criminal charges against you such as abuse and domestic violance and other things when you were married. Do you have any child support to pay and if so are you paying it on time? If you have not done any thing wrong and if it is just a bitter divorce happend several years ago your wife can not make any trouble for you.

They just may be checking you carely when you return and it may not be related to anything to do with your former marriage. Since you're applying based on 5 yrs and not marriage, your ex wife is not at all involved in this process. It is YOUR citizenship application. She doesn't need to know you've applied, when you have an interview or anything else. It is simply none of her business and I assume you don;t really talk judging by your comments anyway. Sounds like you've kept your nose clean with respect to the law so that's good too.

Good luck.

She has nothing to do with your naturalization. The only thing that she could do is officially claim that you only married her for a Green Card and enclose solid proof that this is the fact with her letter. Only know if that's something she can and would do.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
