Hey guys, though i'd post a review of my medical today!

I arrived at 1:15pm for a 1:30pm appointment and was greeted by a nice lady on reception who gave me the 2 forms to fill out, and took my passport, immunisation records, letter from doctor regarding medical history, and 1 passport photo.

I filled out the form and within 10 minutes of waiting I was called by a very chirpy man for my chest X-Ray. I was told to take off my top half of clothing, leave the bottom half, and put on basically a dressing gown (was also told to "put my hair up like a sumo wrestler"...)

All of that took less than 10 minutes and then I was directed to a seperate waiting room (still in the gown!). I probably waited 15-20mins and then Dr Sayed came and got me. I must say she was absolutely lovely! Really put me at ease. She asked me a few questions, basically a repeat of whats on the form, but did repeat the mental health and drug abuse question a few times.

She asked me if id had a smear test and when I said no told me to get one right away, which worried me as I didnt think I needed that for the visa. Turns out, you dont, but shes VERY passionate about people having and had a bit of a rant about the NHS waiting until youre 25!

I then sat on the bed and was asked to read lines form a vision chart.

Then I lay down on the bed, she basically prodded and poked all over, and then listened to my breathing on front and back.

Then the blood test. She did tell me I had the worst veins she's seen and she couldnt find one anywhere (this happenes whenever I have to give blood!) She was really great though, none of the horrible prodding and getting it wrong. She found a vein and couldnt get much from it so ended up doing it from the vein in my wrist!

Then she just chatted while we finished up, and told me to wait in the waiting room for a few more minutes while they completed my forms.

I dressed, waited less than 5 minutes, went to the window where they gave me my documents back, and I paid and left!

All in all took less than and hour and a half, they were all extremely friendly and kept wishing me lots of luck!

I worried for nothing!! :star:

Great review-- would probably do best if we could get it moved to the United Kingdom forum(?), since it's region specific. (I just mean a lot more UK people would have a chance at it helping them out :))

Anyway, wow, the NHS doesn't give you a smear test until you're 25??? I got one on the NHS here when I was 21. Then again, I also insisted my dentist give me a teeth cleaning even though I was told 2 years in a row I didn't need it
