My wife said there was a protest at the US Embassy in Manila few days ago and people where even throwing rocks at the gates. People are mad that the embassy and US Govt are taking too long to process visas and also many complain that the embassy does not approve visas for good people yet they approve visas for undesirables and criminals.

I'm hopeful I'll hear something by May 5th -- too hopeful/optimistic.

All I know is if May 5th rolls around and we haven't heard anything I'm submitting a service request for sure.

I don't think there are any holidays this month that would inhibit them from blowing through Oct/Nov :)

woww you seem to be very optimistic :) Looking at current stats for last 3 months it is very less likely to see NOA2 in 5 months irrespective of no holidays in April month. I don't know if CSC will let you file service request immediately after 5 months.

I am not a USC so I don't know for sure. Just searched on google and these days came up as Federal holidays. Easter is on Sunday but Monday is listed too.
