The waiting gets harder the closer you get. A week ago I was going slightly mad. Now that we finally have our NOA2 I feel like I'm on top of the world.

I know it may not help much, and I know myself very well that's a lot easier to say so once you're "on the other side"... but try not to worry about it. It will be OK, just stay patient.

Oh and I'm very sorry to hear the sad news Ted. Glad you got some good news as well. But it must indeed be a weird feeling.

My wife called me (not the USCIS or CSC) at aprox. 12:20 at night local Swedish time (central European time) last night, nearly 24 hours ago. Local time in Pittsburgh (where she lives) was 6:20 in the evening (Sweden is six hours ahead of Pittsburgh, which is in the same time zone as New York I believe).

She called me when she came home from work (she picked up her daughter at an after-school program on the way home). I don't remember if she told me or not but I assume they got home shortly after six in the evening, found a letter from the USCIS (or perhaps CSC) in the mail box, ripped the envelope open and called me as soon as her daughter had thrown a bucket of water at her after she fainted from the shock of extreme happiness. That's my best guess as to how it all went down.

To clarify: My wife called the USCIS (or maybe the CSC, I forget which) on May 2nd to ask about our pending application. The person she talked to told her that they were working on applications from Nov. 15 (our priority date is Dec 1, 2011). My wife was told to call back if we had not received any notice in 30 days (if memory serves me right).

My wife scanned the NOA2 form and i see under "Notice date" it says May 2, 2012. I.e. the same day my wife called.

Those are the facts. However I do not know what conclusions to draw based on those facts. But I think they probably mailed it out the same day as my wife called (or possibly the following day).

Based on what you have said, my assumption is that CSC officer approved your application on May 2nd, or earlier. But it took some time to reflect into USCIS system to see latest status.

Uhm, I have no idea. I don't know what that is exactly, so I really can't answer one way or the other.

ADD: Is there a way to somehow put my timeline as a signature at the bottom of each post I make? Or do you guys do that manually?

Click on My Settings on right hand side of your window where you see your user id. Then click on Profile tab and it will have one option on left side "Change Signature".

we all will have soon, just take 1 day at a time. It's happening now, things are moving along.

Moving is a painful process and I am sure nobody wants to do it just for fun.

If someone did it despite knowing their NOA2 could be arriving soon, it must have been some real emergency and maybe they could not really wait another 2 to 3 weeks.

I can't agree or disagree with your opinion because I don't know what things in immigration system may cause a processing overhead in your application.

But in general, what I have learned in the past is that once you file your immigration petition do not try to change your home or travel out of the country unless you are in an emergency.

Since we are december filers and CSC is already processing December files, so why not wait for another 2 to 3 weeks? I am not against of not updating your address at all, but I suggest to wait for 2 to 3 weeks before you get your NOA2. Typically background check process may find your new address at least after 4 to 5 weeks since the date you have updated your new address in work payroll, started/transferred utility bills, transferred your DMV driver's license, vehicle registration etc.

Yes. My wife and I waited five months and one day. Try not to be like I was a week ago (freaking out a little bit) - remain calm, it's going to work out.

It's hard not to freak out when all other Decembers are pouring in and yours hasn't. I can't imagine how the remaining Nov stragglers feel!!
