I am posting a link to the Jamica forum. There you can look over to the right and see the total amount of days it took people from filing 130 to interview date. Also, are you in USA now or will you file from Jamaica? Have you lived together for 6 months in Jamaica? Can you file DCF from Jamaica?

If you are in the USA then it will take about 10 months to 1 year.

The Jamaicans look like they are not filing out very many timelines for themselves. So, this makes it difficult to try and predict how long each step and total time your visa will take. Sorry

good luck

Hello,

I do suggest you take a look at the guides on here. The medical and Affidavit of support come a lot later. Right now you need the I-130 application, form G-325A 1 for you and 1 for your husband. He will need to sign the G-325A himself (his copy). You will need passport photo 1 of you and 1 of him. A copy of the marraige certificate, and a letter from a witness who attended. A copy front and back of your birth certificate, if you were ever divorced a court copy of that, copy of all the pages in your passport to show travel, and copies of Western union receipts, phone records, top offs that you might have done for him, pictures from your wedding and other pictures. The cost is $420.00. Timelines vary and there is no answer to why this happens. Again take a look at the guide for filing the I-130 here on VJ. Please make sure all applications are complete. For when there is no information make sure you answer with none or na. Dont leave anything blank. Good Luck

Welcome HunnyNJa :)

babygurl has given you a lot of accurate info

I ALWAYS hear people in Jamaica say you should marry first, that it faster when you get married, but in truth the process slow like molasses same way. When you finally file, you are so anxious for things to get moving, and for some reason it seems to go slower... :clock: but take heart, the day WILL come.

The cost to file the initial petition is $420 but don't think it stops there  save your pennies cause this immigration process is no joke! t3906.gif

The total costs ~ Eyes wide open:

US$420.00 ~ I-130 Petition

US$404.00 ~ IV Bill

US$88.00 ~ AOS Fee

JA$2000.00 ~ Jamaican Police Certificate

US$200-300 ~ Medical

These are just the BASIC things you will need provided he already has a passport and you have the certified copy of your marriage certificate. He will also need to get a set of passport photos, they will be needed at every stage (petition, medical & interview).

All this being said, it can be overwhelming to look at the whole picture. Take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and you will get there.

We are here when you have questions! (F)

I did but LIKKLEBIT had absolutely no effects on the change. I removed my parent's case.. my N400 info and made the focus on my brother's.. made bigger.. he's the one that's left to go.. then we are done with immigration sponsorship..

I married my husband September 6th of 2010. We filed the I-130 on October 29th of 2010. My husband had his interview in Jamaica on May 13th 2011. The interview went well, he was able to answer all questions truthfully that was asked of him. He had all sorts of information to verify our relationship. He wasn't given a denial slip at his interview. He was told by the IO that the paperwork was being sent back to USCIS. The reason given for this was that USCIS would contact me to see if I wished to continue with the process. I was contacted by USCIS to inform me that they had received my paperwork back on June 29th 2011 with a request to review it. USCIS informed me that this process will take 6 months. My six month deadline is December 29th. As of right now I am still waiting...

I'm bringing my hubby from Jamaica as well. We've been together fro 9 yrs March and married for 3yrs. I started his process May and had to expedite due to some issues. It was approved the end of October. Now we are at the NVc stage. SO far I paid $420 for the I-130, $88 for the AOS ( support package). You will need ( which I didn't know) your marriage cert from the RGD in Jamaica. There's more info If you want you can inbox me and we can talk more.

FYI the Jamaican Police Certificate price has changed to triple that. 3,000 for regular and 6,000 for 3-5 business days
