The Feds screwed up royally when they introduced minimum wage. People lost sight of "value" when it came to their work and instead look at wage as an "entitlement."

Illegal immigration, inflation, etc. wouldn't be as much of an issue if the minimum wage was removed.

It might be nice to work at a San Francisco McDonalds for $12/hr, but you're stuck paying $1200/month for that 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment.... It's a joke.

Yeah, really. Once people expected to be paid in return for their work, once they felt 'entitled' to be compensated for their labor shite just started to go downhill. There were times when portions of the labor pool had no such expectation. And then slavery was abolished and the country started to descent. Excellent point, Paul.

If we are going to put children up chimneys again, we do need to consider their waist measurements.

Working 21 hours a day in electronics factories in Thailand can be done by fat kids, whereas chimney cleaning from the inside in cold climates needs slim kids - its obvious that a swap of kids between Thailand (slim kids) and Chicago (fat kids) would be a more efficient arrangement

I haven't seen any conservative proposals to make the age of consent/marriage more 'Southern'

If the age was dropped to say 11, it would take more female kids off the job market and lower unemployment - this assumes they followed a good christian life style of staying at home and looking after the head of the household

With an age of consent at say 11, more 13 year old girls could be pole dancers and this again would lower entitlement pay outs

Worker visa's are what the foreigners use to land seasonal fish cannery jobs up here and it works for them. I don't know if it would work for the farmers, but if it doesn't then they need to lobby to get the worker visa thing revamped.

Agreed the politicians spend more time trying to fck each other and fck us that nothing gets done, and if it does it's usually fckd up. Third party ftw! Something not so far left, and not so far right...but in the center.
