Hi!! Any help here will be very much appreciated.

I came on a K1, my EAD and AP card just arrived and are waiting on the AOS.

Anyway, I completed High School, 6th Form and 2 years of a Law degree in England and I've just been to the Education Office on base and someone told me that basically the grades I have don't mean s**t here, even as prerequisites, is this true??

Also when I look at the university websites they want highest level of education, what do I check there??

I'm thinking of getting into nursing or radiology (huge change from Law I know lol) so any help for a British Citizen, legally here in the USA getting into nursing will be REALLY appreciated!!

With regards finance there are Military funds available (I think) so the money isn't an issue its just my UK grades and actually getting started with it.

Thank you very much to anyone who can help me :) x

You did High School in the UK?

With A Levels I just said Hugh School Diploma equivalent. It is a bit more but no US comparable.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The education counselors on post are well versed on what credit universities will give you for prior education. Welcome to the US where the mighty dollar rules unless you attended an accredited university most universities do not like to give you credit. Bottom line up front it works better for their pocket book to deny transfer of credits.

Good luck and I do believe that the education center helps with tuition assistance as long as you have already chosen a degree plan.

If you want to go back to school in the US you'll need your UK transcripts evaluated - this is typically the ONLY thing they will look at as your UK transcrips (as you now know) don't mean anything to them. They often don't understand them and won't take the time to learn

Good luck

and I would add to be very careful which company you use to review your UK education. When my son came here from the UK with a higher than average UK education (left school in 2005 so high grades on CSE's and equivalent) he was told by a company that we paid $200+ to review his education, that he hadn't even done enough to pass high school here which is complete BS!!
