I just got married to my american man after entering the US on my K-1 visa.

After showing my marriage certificate I got a Social Security Card mentioning

"Valid for work only with DHS authorization". Last week I filed I-485 for adjustment

of status and the same time I filed I-765 for Employment authorization. Do I need to

wait till I have a reply on the I-765 before I can start working?

Thanks

You have to wait until you get either EAD or green card to be able to work.

It took about three weeks to receive the NOA1 and the BIO appointment was at the one month mark and the EAD arrived at day 46. The only problem we had was the girl taking my wive's finger prints could not get a decent scan. Several people came and went and my wife is stiff there. That took 45 minutes, but considering the Bio place is way out east (Colfax and Chambers) and we live north and west (104th and Wadsworth) it took about an hour to drive there.

Good luck,

Dave

one post removed for tos violation:

Condone or instruct, either directly or indirectly, others on how to commit fraudulent or illegal immigration activities in any way, shape, manner or method.

and one for quoting that post.

do not advise any site member to work "under the table."

Thanks for the answers!

Do you know how long it will take before I can expect a reply on the I-765 application?

2-3 month maybe i think

post quoting aforementioned tos violation returned above, minus that quote.
